With the help of this topic I found the cheapest way to order for NY residents, ordered an iPod 32Gb 4th Gen for 279 no tax payed and shipment included.

See my last post in this topic for more info.

If you have a Costco membership, go to Costco.

8GB: $179
32GB: $279
64GB: IDK

I bought a broken mini off of ebay for $5 shipped and plan to use this for $30 off of the new 32gb Touch. Did the same thing last year also.

Unfortunately no Costco membership, it's almost worth it though, 50 dollar membership for 50 dollar discount! Is there maybe a cheaper way to such a membership. I'm a student by the way.

The 10% discount is nice, but only available at Apple Store, where I have to pay tax, and that is 8-9%. So that will cost me 230/240 dollars (buying broken ipod included)

Other suggestions? Student discounts?

I trust E-Bay, it even gives insurance when Paypal is used. I'd only buy from respected sellers though.

Anybody have experience with buying from E-Bay just a few weeks after release of the new model. Is it cheaper then new? If it isn't I'm gonna go with Crutchfield.

Purchased the 8GB for $215 from Costco yesterday. Not sure where the 179 price came from.

Anyway, it's $15 cheaper at costco, 90 day return policy with no restocking fee, and 2 years warranty. Can't go wrong!

Amazon has tax for me, since I'm in NY, total 243USD for 8Gb Ipod

Costco is 215USD, but you also have to count in Membership right?

Newegg? Is it cheaper there? Will they have tax? How long will I have to wait?

I don't think they charge tax for NY, also

usually $10 cheaper than apple store

currently, they still sell 3rd gen(32gb is 299, and 8gb is 189 but I think they almost got rid of stock)

shipping is usually less than $5

Macmall was a good suggestion, 288USD for a 32GB is a good price. Unfortunately I have to pay tax there too, so total is 314USD...

Are there besides Newegg any stores with a discount to +/- 290USD without tax for NY residents?

Macmall + Fatwallet= $217.27

edit:search around Fatwallet to see what store offers the touch and what percentage cashback you can get

I enquired about student discounts for a 64GB Touch at my local store in Liverpool ONE and they said that they only do student discounts on the computers themselves.

Thank you for all the tips guys.

Just bought the 32GB for exactly USD299 shipment included from Crutchfield.com

Only thing is their out of stock right now, so I don't know when it will arrive...
