    2.4GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 vs. 2.8GHz dual-core Intel Core i7

i'm thinking about buying a macbook pro, why should i spend hundreds of dollars more for this?

The i7 will benefit you only if you're going to be doing plenty of heavy lifting, like video and audio editing. It will help cut down the time it takes to render the files.

If you're not into that, the i5 would be a better choice.

i do do video editing with final cut. how drastically would it effect rendering time? would it also effect the amount of time it takes to export?
