First, go see if you are eligible for Apple's academic discounts, it depends on which country you are from and what instituition you are from.

If you qualify, you can go their special academic online store, which shows you prices after academic discount

Thank you. Does this only apply online? Is it Apple-only, or do other retailers offer it or price match Apple's?

This academic discount is usually Apple only and applies to both online and offline Apple Stores (you will need to mention to them verbally and have necessary documents ready; the Specialists are in a much better position to advise you on this)

As for other retailers, you will need to ask too and see what they say

No Best Buy discounts for iPads right now, just $100 off Macs. Wait for our "Black Friday in July" sale (last year I got the 9.7" pro for $375.) Currently the 9.7" pro is on sale/clearance for $474. Unfortunately I Had to trade in that Pro to get a new 12.9" (I wouldn't mind being able to get it again.)
It should drop even lower soon. Best Buy will have a deal that drops a chunk off the $474 or have a gift card of some sort come with it.

Kallum.

I am assuming you work for Best Buy based on "wait for our Black Friday in July" sale. Do you think they will discount the newer 10.5 iPad Pros for this sale or just last year's iPad Pro? What about the regular 2017 9.7 inch iPad? Also, you guys take older iPads for store credit, right?

Thanks for the help, by the way.

Yes I work at BB, I can't say for sure on anything, as even I am not sure of the exact date right now but if we have one this year it should pop up towards the latter half of the month.
Last year they had the new pro 9.7" go on sale for around 475 and I used a store promotional coupon to get it for $375. So it's not at all impossible for BB to have the new pros on sale in the coming weeks, but again I can't really give you an absolute answer, only that we will have a sale but I don't know what prices will be and if the new pros will for sure get marked down... but I believe the mini 4 and 9.7" probably will.

I hope you are right about the Mini. I'd like to pick up one on sale to use as a test bed for the beta version of an app I use.
