This is my first thread and it has to do with GarageBand and Logic.
I am a really old reed player.I take Band In A Box ,set it up with the style,
key and speed for which song I plan to improvise on then import it into
GarageBand for further editing. Then out come the mics and horns to play
an arrangement written by me along with solos played by me.GB has been great for this type of thing. When I bought my 8 Core Mac Pro I had the store include Logic Express thinking I could step up to a more advanced musical software.I so far have not found anything on Logic that I cannot do on GB
except further edit and play more loops.I detest Loop based music if one can call it that.As far as I can see there is no spontaneity, just the hi-jacking of someone else's licks leading to the kind of Muzak one hears leading to commercial spots on TV.It seems the only thing I can use are drum loops
because of their neutrality to chord progressions.
I assume when I understand the program more thoroughly I will be able to do a better job editing and mixing but with basically just me doing all the creative work I am pretty satisfied with just GarageBand.
I think I spent three bills for nada.

Ive kinda wondered about this too. I've heard various arguments that Logic actually will give you a better "quality" mixdown but who knows?
