According to the specs, they say that 640 MB of RAM is max on this laptop 867mhz Al Powerbook 12" (1st gen Al) but I was wondering which I could stick in a 1 GB stick of RAM into the open slot?

Not true. Point.

Before I got the pb in my sig I had a 12" 867 mhz Albook. Put a 1 gb stick in it and had 1,128 gb ram.

You can put a gig stick in there. When that laptop was released gig sticks weren't common and were very expensive. Officialy it only takes a max of 640 MB but in a developer's note somewhere Apple states that it will accept up to a single gig stick in the empty slot. The fake 640 MB celing was partially for marketing purposes.
