5W with compact charger included in the box
7.5W with supported Qi wireless chargers after 11.2 update
12W with 2.4A ipad charger
29W with usb-c PD

this is about ipad pros but it could be the same on the 8 with usb-c

The 29W PD charger cahrges at about the same speed as the 12W iPad charger. Actual measurements suggest a maximum of under 12W.
There is no reason to waste your money on PD chargers.
Also in this respect, iPhones have supported "fast charging" for a few years already. They just don't really brag about it. It's not as fast as Android counterparts but I'm afraid it's mostly because there is no reason to be that fast, and slow charging makes your battery last longer.

I am using 12W and is VERY good.

The 29W is faster, but not so much I’d recommend spending the money on it.
Going from. 0-100% saves you about 20 minutes. From 0/50% just over 10 minuets. If you think that’s a meaningful enough change to make a difference for you then by all means go for it.
I use 5W wireless, 7.5W wireless, 12W USB, 29W USB-C and 87W USB-C with mine.
Once you get past the 12W charger, there’s a difference. It charges faster with no mistake. But it sure as hell isnt a big enough change to make it worth spending the money as far as I’m concerned.
If I didn’t have all of those chargers spare, I definitely wouldn’t be going to buy them. 12W is plenty.
Though I will say that getting to 50 percent in around half an hour is pretty good with the fast charging.

The maximum is 18W for iPhones 8, 8 Plus, and X.
Using the Apple USB-C 29W, 61W, and 87W power adapters will deliver only 18W (9 volts, 3 amps) to those devices.
(Even then, the iPhones seem to not utilise all 18 of those watts. That's why there's not much difference between a 12W charger and "fast charging".)

So that means it doesnt matter if i will plug my iphone 8 to higher powered charger than 18W it will always deliver only 18W to phone?
I’m temporarily using an iPhone 8 and use an Apple 18w fast charger, charges the small battery rapidly lol it gets hot though!

In my testing and general awareness, anything higher rated than 12W (Apple USB-A included with iPad) is unnoticeable.
