I'm running on a mid-2014 13" MacBook Pro; I use it for everything -- work (software development, CAD design (via VPN to a Windows machine), so on), and of course casual email/browsing/etc. It runs quite well on Mojave, though I suspect I'll need to upgrade sometime next year or so. Thinking of course about another MacBook Pro 13", but not sold on the touch bar at all.

Any suggestions from other software developers? Granted, my coding is done mostly through ssh to remote machines, but would be interested in your input!

2013 13", 2.8 i7, 16GB, 1TB.

I can't bring myself to replace it with a touch bar model. Clinging on in the hope that Dell stick their hardware in a nicer case or Apple ditch the touch bar.

Dug out my early 2008 15" whilst in the UK for a while, and surprised that it's still performing nicely for web browsing.
2.4ghz, 4gb & Samsung 830 SSD.

Amazed this one hasn't had the 8600GT fail. Battery also still holds a couple hours, although it was replaced with a genuine Apple one a few years back.

2008 13" MacBook (pre-pro) my girlfriend still runs sometimes. works as it worked always.

Mid 2009 MBP with SSD and 8GB RAM here although my new 2018 MBP is due for delivery today.

I have a late 2008 MBP that currently a jukebox for my music room. Have it hooked up via USB to my 8 channel mixer to output to 2 Peavey Dark Matter 12” PA speakers. At 1000W RMS each I can definitely make ears bleed if needed.

Is the headphone output on older computers usually quieter?

Still working with my 15' mid-2010 MBP. I use any kind of Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator work with as well some 3D shift. Still making the work but this is going to be its last working year...gonna replace it with the new MBP 15

Mine is Early 2015 MBP 13" (2.9 GHz version). Just turned two years old and I updated it to 10.12.6 Sierra so now it runs even snappier and smoother than before, couldn't be happier :D

I use a 2005 PowerBook G4. It is siting on my desk running OS X server software and performing basic server tasks for my house. It still works perfectly.
