I watch old episodes of Computer Chronicles at 360p and I didn't die.

Sometimes it's hard to understand why they were so excited about the amiga's graphics. bits of grey with flecks of color.

I like 4k video because I can read all the background details.

I think the 4k/8k is for folks with movie theatres in their home who like to watch unboxings.

I understand some people need 32GB for work and I may need that as well. For those who do, they can probably afford a powerful desktop with 32+GB ram with powerful GPU and an ultraportable. They can run computation intensive stuffs 24/7. Why invest on more RAM and i9 on the MBP2018 given that it may not be as powerful as a desktop due to thermal throttling and other limitations?
One of my producer friends makes music on his computer for a looooot of hours. When running massive amounts of plugins (no pun intended for those who get the reference..) he would definitely benefit from a 6-core CPU. At that point, why not get the fastest one? It's an option, and I don't see the harm in offering it. If Apple didn't offer it, people would be complaining about that...

"If you guys are looking to save money, and you are looking to upgrade, I think the biggest thing you can do is not upgrade to the 4 Terabyte drive. I would recommend getting the two terabyte drive if you are doing a lot of heavy data stuff because my sister did get the one terabyte and she said that she is running out of space so many times when she's editing videos ..." --wisdom from ijustine

Yeah? What about it?

I'm not disagreeing with you. I think you should always create the best quality you can. But honestly, shooting 8K for youtube videos that are heavily compressed is kind of a waste of money. Especially since once 8K video becomes the norm, most of his content and other youtube creators content will be irrelevant and out of date.

If you have the money, why not? I mean their whole job is to be interested in tech, of course they will then extend that into their content creation. And if it also slightly benefits the quality, great.

Yes it is a nice option and I welcome that. I just need to know if it makes the MBP 2018 sounds like a vacuum cleaner/jet engine and my laps turn red if using it. So far, there is no review on these.

Because I can’t take my desktop with me when I travel, and I can’t take it with me when I visit clients, and I can’t put it on my lap and work from my living room sofa while watching tv?

Yet I still want to be able to process huge amounts of data quickly and don’t want to buy two machines, one for portability and one for speed?

Because I'm on a plane every three or four days, and while I could buy a powerful desktop and an ultraportable, I don't want to. I want to have everything on a single machine, as opposed to embarrassing myself when I inevitably forget something on my other machine and have to explain to my clients why I flew across the country for nothing.

I use a small cluster at home for most of my work and VPN in when remote. However internet isn't ubiquitous and if I am mid project without internet, I would like to be able to spin up containers and VMs on my laptop rather than wait until I have connectivity again. I won't be upgrading to the 2018 model but when I do upgrade, I will again opt for the max RAM and Cores available at the time.
