I have read the majority of this thread and no one has mentioned this. I have one question for everyone here. Can you please tell me ONE useful thing you will use flyover for??

Like today, With street level I was able to put in the Address to my Dr and see what the building looked like so I would know exactly where to go! I use it all the time for instances like that.

What could you use flyover for?? if you aren't a pilot or spiderman?

Question is void because apparently everyone on MR is Spiderman.

All of the shots you posted were directly overhead. Do you not know how to get a different angle? It seems not. It is the fact that all of them are at bird's eye view like a satellite shot more than anything else. Try using two fingers and drag them upward. Your shots don't show anything like that.

Here ya go. Zoomed AND angled. Now what?

In one shot I can now see where every path goes...

I hope you are referring to the Google Image. The Google image even shows where the path goes under trees. In Flyover, you've got an impenetrable fortress of trees. Of course, Apple could add path lines later on.

In one shot I can see mutant trees and paths being eaten away by those trees. In fact, the more images I see from Flyover, the more these images convey a misrepresentation of the area. Compare that to normal 2D satellite imagery where I can take one quick glance and get a feel for all the paths, trees, streets, and buildings immediately.

LOL. You are obviously holding the iPad the wrong way.

I imagine I would play with it for the first few days, looking at some of its very limited locations that I neither live in nor travel to, just to admire how cool it was. Then, when the novelty wore off, just not use it anymore. Just like Siri last year. And continue to use street view on Google's maps website, which is useful and coverage is extensive.

Couldn't you see that in the Apple view as well?

2D, flyover, ....

I just like that there are options in a single view....and I don't think it is fair to show one angle of flyover when the whole point is that it is easily rotated to have different views.

Of course, Google could easily integrate some version of Google Earth into their maps to get the same effect.

Where is the Lafayette Park you are showing? I'd like to check it out as well.

EDIT: Sorry...San Francisco...duh...
