Never done it before. Bought it on the Apple store app. Do I just bring the phone in the original box and go to my nearest Apple store?

I just returned mine, bring the phone in the box with all accessories. And also have your order confirmation email with your order.

Why are you returning it?

Why did you return yours?

Battery: X has a larger battery than a 8+ yet the battery doesn't last as long even though it supposedly has a more efficient screen. Multiple tests done on websites and user submitted battery stat screenshots show this. X= 7-8 hours use, any Plus model is 10-12+ hours.

Screen: The screen, while looking good at a perfect angle. Changes colors if you're slightly off axis. My old LCD Plus looks better when side by side just sitting on my desk looking at the same content.

Also about the screen, looking at it for 4 days gave me a 4 day headache. My eyes were hurting and I could not focus. Switched to my Plus, problem is gone.

Screen Size: The screen makes you think that it's bigger, but it's just a trick. There is so much wasted space that in some cases the usable screen area is actually smaller than the 4.7" iPhone 8. Coming from a Plus model, it's a huge downgrade in screen real estate and that's a big sacrifice to make for a phone that doesn't offer anything new or better in comparison to a 8 Plus.

Face ID: This is where Apple tried to solve their own problem, rather than thinking about the consumer. They couldn't fit a fingerprint reader anywhere so they added in Face ID. While it did work surprisingly well and I never had a failure. I felt as though I was trying to work for the phone rather than the phone working for me. I found myself adjusting angles, holding it just right while laying in bed, can't use it on your desk without picking it up... It was not a replacement for Touch ID, which is faster and far more convenient.

UI/UX: The software sucks. Plain and simple. Whoever designed this and thought it was acceptable is an idiot who doesn't know anything about UI or UX. I can go into detail if you like, but just know it's a step backwards and more of a process do to simple things like closing an app or shutting the phone down.

I can probably think of a few more but I think those are the main points that effect most people. The rest is just nitpicking because I expect a fluid and sensible 60 FPS experience and Apple hasn't delivered that since iOS 6... and it's not because of the hardware we have.

I’m returning cause the screen is just bad lol it’s piss yellow no thanks

Thanks for all this. You're not the only one that has posted about getting these headaches and eye strains after use, what do you think is causing that?

From my understanding it's the backlight on the LCD vs the refresh rate on OLED

This is what BENQ does on their monitors to reduce headaches and eye fatigue and it definitely makes a difference...

The supposed problem is something known as pulse-width modulation.

You do not even need a receipt. They can scan the bottom of the box and get all the info they need. I returned my X yesterday and bought a new sim free 8+ and it only took about 10 minutes till I was out the door.

Did you return your X for the same reasons - headaches and eye strains? This is concerning me, because there are a few post from people here complaining of this issue. I'm waiting for the Sim-Free X Version, but am thinking of now getting the 8 Plus.

If you bought online, you can also use the website and it will give a Fedex return label for free.

I mainly returned due to the keyboard. I have had three Plus units and the X just did not cut it in the end. I returned the X and got an 8+ sim free 256gb to replace it and very happy!

This is just reinforcing my decision to go with the 8+. In fact, I almost kept my 7+, but the camera on the 8+ alone makes me thankful I wound up going ahead and upgrading.

I mainly wound up doing it because I love the form factor, size, etc. of the 6-8+ and I’m afraid we won’t have that again - figured I’d have the newest one so I can hold onto it as long as possible!

I am considering doing the same thing. Do they switch out the SIM cards or how do you ensure you don't lose your phone number?

Did Apple ask you why you were returning the phone or give you any grief?

Did you have to make an appointment or just walk-in?

I called and spoke to a manager to make sure I wasn't going to have a problem since I got it on Apple.com not in a store. Luckily the manager came to do the return. I was in and out in 2-3 minutes without an appointment.

Working phone in the box with all accessories and your order confirmation email.

I walked in without receipt, they scanned the bottom of the box, pulled up my info, and it was quickly done. I did ask the person handling the return to remove my SIM card. Quick and easy, no problem.

2 employees did ask me why I was returning it, I told them I was switching to an 8 Plus, they seemed a little surprised but no one hassled me. It was painless.

I got asked "how long have you had it?"... I looked around puzzled since it was a 4 day old phone.

Then I gave them this list as to why I'm returning it....
