I’m confused... why didn’t they name XC? I know marketing it isn’t logical to name it after a less than stellar nominer but still...

R for Regular?

I’m almost inclined to say it should’ve been called... XB, B for basic. Or XP, P for peasant.

Lmao

Have you learned nothing from 2013’s ill fated iPhone 5C?

But yeah, I call the XR...regular.

That’s a lil bit of a stretch bruh lol R before S?

R is literally the letter before S. Things that come before something else usually aren't as advanced as the next thing. iPhone 8 was the next step, the more advanced product after iPhone 7. iPhone XS is the next step, the more advanced product after XR.

They screwed up royally calling X as “ten” last year. It should’ve been iPhone X as X the alphabet and not the numeral. That’s because it’s a special 10th anniversary edition so it can have it’s own name. Hell I call mines X. Then this year is right, XS and XS Max are good follow up iterations.... now that I think about it XR makes sense because it’s actually the same edge to edge so I guess it deserves the X name. But what happen next year with the redesigned phone?

Maybe it's reasonable, cuz I'm thinking that price is the closest to any kind of reason.

Reused as they are reusing all the old parts of the last gen iPhones to make a "New" iphone.

But it uses the same parts as the Xs: A12 processor, same camera (only one of them), etc. Other than the screen, it is effectively the same hardware (and even the screen is brand new).

Part of me wonders if they plan a smaller XC later (~5.1”, so smaller than a X but larger than the SE) so they reserved the name.
