So I just got this iMac and just noticed that it is this blue stuff all over the screen. It might be a little hard to see from a cell phone picture and isn'this really something you spot at first glance when using the computer but it's weird.
It is image retention, myself and other users have noted this. You get the blue retention after leaving up high contrast colours for a certain amount of time.

In my case I have a three year warranty so Im going to wait until late next year if its bothering you now though then go ahead and call AppleCare. Unfortunately my 2012 iMac had similar issues and in the end Apple replaced mine with a 2013 model.
This was my plan. I have extra insurance from the store I bought from so I was thinking that when they don't sell this iMac anymore I complain about this and hopefully get a new one haha. My sister got her old iPod replaced with a new one ince

Can you make out images from windows and text? Otherwise this might be "dirty screen effect", a product of thin LED displays where the sheets sandwiched together do not lay perfectly flat, resulting in a non uniform lighting/color when viewing a solid colored image like setting the wallpaper to gray, etc.
Edit: I'm viewing this thread from my iPhone so seeing a larger version of your photo is tricky
