This has appeared in my menu bar, If I click on it a long blank drop down box appears but that's all. Anyone know what it is? Or if it's of concern?

Don't know it, but usually, those types of menu bar items are part of a software install. Stuff like DropBox, OneDrive, various backup software....anything that may work best running as an always-on service. It was likely installed with software, but the question is what.

The question is what was installed...maybe a demo or something. Could be you trashed the application, but it left this behind. Hard to say what or exactly how to dig it out without knowing what the app was.

Usually not an issue, but nice to remove all the cruft.

You should be able to hold down the Command key and drag it off the menu bar...but it would better to know what is running, so you can be sure to fully remove it.
