What is this in my menu bar:

What is this and how do I get rid of it:

That looks like the eject icon.

It's an eject key icon – to remove it just Command-click and drag it off the menu bar. It'll disappear harmlessly in a little puff of smoke.

I purposely used to have that in my menu bar. In system library coreservices you will find a folder called menu extras. Inside that window there is "eject.menu" which puts the eject icon in your menu bar.
