Just had a red dot appear on the phone logo on my iPhone 12mini.

Is it a warning? Can't get rid of it.

That's curious. A simple red dot indicating a voicemail? But no number?

Perhaps it's been so long since I've been in single digit notifications that I do not recall this - or that it changed?

But then, even a single text message will show a '1'.

I think if your network provider offers visual voicemails then it could be that?

Just checked on my 13 mini — had the plain red dot without a number, also don’t have visual voicemail. I checked my voicemail, listened to two unread messages (spam calls) and deleted them. Red dot is now gone.

I didn’t have a red dot on the voicemail icon in the actual phone app, so I guess I listened to voicemails previously but didn’t delete or listen to the two I just had

Glad you found the culprit. I was gonna suggest you have a knock-off fake iPhone running an Android skin to look like iOS. 🤪
