What is this screen BLERP on my 12" MacBook!?

EDIT: Basically I just bought this the other day for $600.Do I try to return it to the guy, or do I keep it and hope for the best?

Noticed this weird screen artifacting issue when notifications came in and the screen woke up. Same things happen if I "manually" wake up the screen from sleep as well.

I tried resetting the SMC, to no avail.

I saw some old posts about people complaining about the upgrade to Sierra and it having something to do with Metal; but no recent posts.

I get that as well on my 12" MacBook (early 2016). It also started after a major update but I can't remember which.

No other issues so I ignore it. Would be nice to know what the root cause is though...

Same observation - no other major issues... Sim City 4 seems to work wonderfully
