Was that an old QuickTime easter egg or something? I remember being shown a couple of tricks (albeit totally useless ones) years ago and I think that was one of them...

You win! In System 7.x --> MacOS 9.x, if you turned on 'Balloon Help' and placed the pointer over the QuickTime extension, that's what was displayed.
It's considered uncouth to mention him among FCP buffs, but Jaffa Cake and geeky ilk of his prowess have probably been eye witnesses of Bruce the Wonder Yak, too. :)

It almost sounds like we're in agreement. w/o time there isn't anything we can easily use to record history. Sans time you would need to record events by other markers like the various solstices or planet rotations. as for measurement of time starting wit 0AD, that's a Christian thing. There is a Hebrew calendar too that has some other event to set the '0' of the Hebrew calendar. Whatever event time is based upon, time is still used to record events in a manner where you can tell what event occurred before or after another event.

It was just an example.

Time is not something we can strive to understand.

We can only try to understand time through our perceptions of it.

Time is a dimension just like spatial dimensions.

Time is often referred to as the dimensional "fourth time repeated dimension." It is, in essence, one way to measure physical change. It is perceived very differently from the three spatial dimensions in that there is only one of it, and that movement seems to occur at a fixed rate and in one direction according to the Conjunction Theory by Andrew O'Desky in 1973.

Second, there is a group of philosophers known as presentists. Presentism can come in different forms, but basically it avoids the McTaggartian paradox by denying that the past and future exist.

such that:

Gertrude Stein said:
Continuous present is one thing and beginning again and again is another thing. These are both things. And then there is using everything.

This brings us again to composition this is the using everything. The using everything brings us to composition and to this composition. A continuous present and using everything and beginning again. In these two books there was elaboration of the complexities of using everything and of a continuous present and of beginning again and again and again.

In the first book there was a groping for a continuous present and for using everything by beginning again and again.

There was a groping for using everything and there was a groping for a continuous present and there was an inevitable beginning of beginning again and again and again.

Having naturally done this I naturally was a little troubled with it when I read it. I became then like the others who read it. One does, you know, excepting that when I reread it myself I lost myself in it again. Then I said to myself this time it will be different and I began. I did not begin again I just began.

So, the question isn't time, but action. Why did we ever bother with nouns, anyways?

I know what time is, provided no one asks me.

Also a good answer if your teacher asks you a question you don't know because, hey, you're referencing Confessions. :p

Ah the irony...posting that at 2:13

If I go back and edit that, am I travelling through time? Have I opened up a tangent universe? is this a paradox? Will the universe collapse unless the living receiver makes contact with the artifact?

What year is this? Who is the president? Where are my pants?
