Why do people buy sunglasses that hide their eyes? It seems like if your eyes are visible through your sunglasses you are seen as in cool?

Maybe because light sunglasses don't block the sun worth a damn. I don't care if they are cool or not, I wear sunglasses to block the sun.

I use 90% dark sunglass with a reflective coating over them for my main pair. Reason I use these is because lighters ones are just not worth anything in blocking out light.

I have a pair of amber lenses that I will wear in the evening or on a cloudy day while driving. All my sunglasses are polarized.

Absolutely not. I don't care if I get "caught."

while maybe when your wife is not around.

I too wear dark sunglasses because light ones don't block light well and seem to be more of a fashion statement.

That being said I desperately need new sunglasses but need to figure out A. A store where I live that sells them and B. How to get my prescription sent to said store so I can get prescription lenses in them.

I got to love mirrored sunglasses after watching the movie 'Cool hand Luke' back in the 1968.

Since then they have been my sunglasses of choice.:D

If I remember correctly Wally, you had a thread titled So what sunglass styles will be in for 2011 Admittedly this was on the 27th December 2010, but from the 80 replies you got, was the tint or colour of the lens not adequately covered?

KGB:cool:

Check out some ophthalmic sites. Sunglasses which allow your eyes to be seen are not dark enough. Ophthalmologists instruct the the proper protection of the eyes from the negative effects of sunlight instruct that when you are buying sunglasses, you should look in a mirror, and if you can see your eyes the lenses are not dark enough.

I wear mirror shades, and hilariously unfashionable ones at that because often I find it comforting to not have to concern myself with eye contact when in public, I just find I'm more relaxed that way.

Nothing to do with coolness.

I have a box of about 10 pairs of those, I do not need a prescription and I often lose or break them.

I can't wear dark sunglasses unfortunately. I have Irlens Syndrome and have to have sunglasses tinted at the prescribed levels. I need to take them back and get them polarized, ATM they only have a UV filter.

What the **** are you on about son? I mean, I'm in no way attacking you or your thoughts here, but don't you have something worthwhile to be doing or thinking about?

Sometimes it is practical. Not everything is about image. But it's nice if the glasses makes me look cool even.
