Hi, I recall somebody mentioning that there are some problems with the current SMB in Ventura. What problems are they?

I did not see SMB having issues. It was working for me. Just once in awhile, it took loner to transfer the same files.

My main issues were unstable Wifi and ethernet connections. Tried also an external 10G adapter.
It did not connect most of the time. Even it did, it dropped connection within 1-2 seconds.

macOS 13.3 Coming Soon With Fix for Network File Sharing

File sharing is normally done with SMB.

That is a totally different issue. What mac do you have? What router are you using? What external 10G adapter did you try?

M2 Mini (cheapest base model) + OWC TB to 10GbE adapter: Most of the time the adapter could not be detected. Even MacOS detected it, it disconnected in 1-2 seconds. As a test, OWC suggested lowering the security level. I bought a Mac for high security. I am not going to lower its security for a product.

M2 Pro Mini (16GB, 1TB SSD, 10GbE ethernet upgrade): Often WiFi kept disconnecting. Tried several solutions posted in the forum but not working.

I am just using a router provided by ISP.

Which ISP? Which modem/router do they use? It supplies the DNCP address?

Why did you get as 10 GbE adapter rather than 1GbE? Assuming you are connecting to the ISP router it is likely that it only supports 1 GbE via WiFi. My Comcast modem supports 6E but I still only get ~1400 Mbps, a bit more than wired ethernet's ~930 Mbps.

Can you return the OWC adapter? No experience with their 10GbE adapters but have had problems with some of their products.

WiFi problems are a b#$%#$% to diagnose.

Yeah, the OWC 10G module isn't well reviewed. Sonnet seems to be the gold standard. QNAP module seems good too.

It looks like even before Ventura, there have been issues with SMB. Is it due to Apple’s implementation of SMB or something else?
