It has already been announced and there are tests on the web now. Shipping is scheduled form mid-March. OWC has also announced they will be making a SF-2000 based drive. I suspect many of these new SF-2000 drives will be formally announced at CEBIT March 1-5.

If you have a new SATAIII MBP, it is definitely worth waiting for one of these new SSD drives. Transfer speeds are about twice the current crop of SSDs.

I have seen the tests, but has anybody build this into the new macbook pro? I want a review of that:D

I'm running an i7 '10 MBP with the Apple SSD and a 7200 HDD in OptiBay.

My boot time from cold to ready-to-use is at 12-15 seconds.

Going to sleep and waking from sleep both seem pretty much instantaneous.

Uhm...

So my boot takes 8 (on its side) with my MBP 2009 right now. For some reason after a reinstall I can boot once and then it just... stops. I'm blaming Migration Assistant, which makes this a PITA to test. Reinstalling (third time today) and not using MA until I am CERTAIN that it's not something else.

Really P$%^d off at this, makes me want to go back to the ugly Windows laptops right now.

No but seriously: With a 5400RPM HDD in my 2009 MBP, it takes about a minute and a half. It's not something I usually do every day though, I don't generally reboot more than once every two weeks. With these problems, though...

What about a fresh install?
Or maybe Carbon Copy Cloner.
Migration assistant and time machine have both been worse than useless for me.
I just eneded up doing a fresh install when I put my SSD in, restore from time machine was a total fail.

Hi sanderbaco, have you seen the Intel 510 Series "Elmcrest" SSDs? Seem a decent price, the 120GB version is cheaper than what I picked my 120GB Vertex 2E up for last year, and it's SATA III with a read speed of 450MBps. Thought you might be interested.

Cant say as I know, I turned it on soon as I brought it home and haven't turned it off yet.

Guess , I'll find out when Lion comes out and I reboot it. :)

But de vertex 3 is on cheaper then the intel ssd en a lot faster! 550mb read en 500 write! for a price of 230 euro

My 2010 13" takes around 50 seconds to boot to the logon screen from pressing the button. 8gb of Ram but the stock HDD

the Vertex 3 is unusable with the MacBook Pros right now. There are some major firmware issues that kill performance. Hopefully Sandforce will release an update but at this point its a no go.

takes about 15 seconds to start up with wifi connected from pushing the button. about 2 to shutdown. intel 160 g2.

Where did you hear this from?

Is it just the Vertex 3 or all SandForce SATA 6Gbps SSDs?
