I am awesome at Gran Turismo (if I do say so myself), and my bumper car skillz deserve the 'z' on the end...that is the extent of my talent...

So what exactly is the difference between an American-style and a European style enthusiastic driver? The American uses the finger more often?

Americans hoof it up the straight and brick it at the corners.

Europeans realise that any fool can drive fast in a straight line so take pleasure in the skill of a fast, well driven corner.

I guess spirited or American-style Enthusiast. I like to leave a red light quickly and enter one quickly, as well as hugging the curves and cruising above the speed limit... but I'll only do this if the conditions are good. I always keep it safe.

Just wanted to start a poll/discussion about fellow Mac users driving styles. Which one applies most to you?

A weird mix. I actually sort of hate driving. But if I must drive, then it better be in a rather responsive car, my Cooper S for example. It doesn't blow past anyone on the straightaways, but that's not what I care for. ;)

Follow traffic laws for the most part, will pass a slower car. I myself am aggressive, but I don't drive aggressively, if that makes sense. (I'll shout at other drivers but from the safety of my car.)

We should all know what the Japanese driver style is called..... ricers. :p

Anyway, I guess I am a European driving style mixed with American. Love the curves the feel of the car and the engine note. I won't enjoy the engine note though under normal conditions where I try to maximize fuel economy as much as possible under acceleration from a stop and let the car sit in its fuel sipping mode. Anyway, my driving style went on a break when I drove mostly the Equinox. While it was a decent vehicle, you just didn't feel the road. You didn't feel that you were planted to it. That is largely due to the 3.4 185 HP V6 and GM's crappy Electric Steering system where it is too loose and very numb. Now that I drive the Aura with the 3.6 252 HP V6 and has hydraulic steering I feel planted to the road and enjoy the curves seeing how far I can push the car safely.

Average aggressive....very aggressive when people piss me off :p

I also have quite the lead foot. Fastest I've driven was 125 MPH. Just for a minute then I chickened out...not my proudest moment but holy hell it was fun :D

you know, i have never ever in my life beeped my horn at another car...no matter what. if someone does something silly, i'll get angry and swear, i'll make faces and gestures...but i never blow my horn.

does that make me abnormal? :(

I'm the same way....when someone cuts me off or does some other jackass thing, I don't honk. My brain is hardwired to flip them off and yell a few four letter words...probably not the best thing I suppose.

I'd say I'm a relaxed driver. I'll keep to the speed limit as much as possible in town but I'll put my foot down a bit on the motorway. Bit of nice music (anyone else like Tarkan?), bit of space and I'm off.

Voted Average Defensive Driver, but any of the first three, Average Lazy Driver, Relaxed Driver, Average Defensive Driver, or maybe even a mix between the three, with a bit of road rage directed at dangerous or inconsiderate drivers tossed in, seems to be an accurate description of my driving style...

i voted spirited before reading the descriptions. i thought it sounded cool. upon further review, i'm somewhere between spirited and euro-enthusiast. i love my 6-sp manual.

I drive with the seat all the way back so I can stretch out my legs. I also drive with one hand; that would be my left hand at the 1:00 o'clock position. Despite being in a relaxed position, I still maintain a high degree of alertness. Sometimes I'll stiffen up my left leg to achieve an extraordinary level of alertness.

it's not the best, but it'll do in a pinch. i'll have to wean my self away from that before i have kids, though! :p

I'm sure all are applicable to me sometimes, depends on the mood I guess.

It's getting harder and harder trying to be a spirited, committed driver on our roads now days though. Sadly.

i voted for lazy .. actually was kinda surprised i'm the only one who not really likes driving .. i simply found too many idiots driving around to make it enjoyable

I am the "The state gave me a license?!" style :D

I don't speed when there are lots of traffic or cut people off BTW. I only speed when there are little or no traffic. I've gotten a few "tickets", my insurance is higher than or close to a new car's monthly payment, that's why I can't "afford" a new car.

Such a great comment! I appreciate sincerity more than anything else, especially from a driver!
