So I thought it would interesting to get actual numbers on what percentage of dropped calls each person is getting. I ask you not to answer the poll if you're just estimating. You have to go to an Apple store and ask them to do a diagnostic test and tell you how many dropped calls you have. I figure this way we can figure out if the iPhone 3G drops more or less calls than other phones on AT&T or other phones on other networks. Please only post also if you have an iPhone 3G.

Thanks
Luke

I voted less than 1%. I do have the iPhone 3G, however, I have 3G off 99% of the time. I used to have it on but I dropped calls like crazy, it basically made my phone unusable. I havet tested it since 2.2 came out but I really don't care, I get waaay better battery life now and the quality of calls is fine....
I'm not going to lie, I didnt get my less than 1% from the apple store but I have a feeling that most of the people that are going to participate in this arent about to drive to their local apple store to get the answer for this thread;)

just experienced my FIRST dropped call in a 11 month period of owning a first generation iphone...

0

I haven't had any dropped calls. 1st generation I-Phone with ATT in Seattle.

Zero dropped calls here (Unless I actually move to an area that has no mobile reception, which is normal)
:D:D:apple:

I am going to say >5% based on the fact that I still consider calls that never come it as dropped. I also make a really low number of calls so I don't know if the dropped call amount would go up with usage, I mean I would figure it would.

LOL...do you think anyone is going to know precisely what % of calls their phone drops!??! How the hell would I know the difference b/w 1,2,3,4% dropped calls!?

What if you know for sure that it's the other phone that dropped the call?

Do we still count that then?

How you would know that, I do not know, but if you do in fact know that, I would not count it.

I've never had a dropped call, and I never turn off 3G.

Like I said in the post, you could go into an Apple store and ask a genius to do a diagnostic on it... its not a bad idea, they can check the battery as well... possibly give you a new replacement!

Wow, I honestly don't believe any of the 0% people.

I'm sure you'll all be mad a me for this, but I have to be honest. I've never seen ANY cell phone that never drops any calls.

Well, frick.

You all have convinced me that my (estimated) call-drop rate of 15% isn't normal.

Talking to my other 3G owning friends, I was lead to believe we all had the same problem. But the poll numbers are shocking me, to say the least. I would have guessed the "over 5%" number to be closer to 50%, but it's closer to 10%..

I've made an appointment with the Apple store for tomorrow and will report back after they check it out.
