It will always be the G4 iMac for me. I remember the first time i saw one i person they were on a different level compared to anything else.

I voted for the PM G5 because its the most useable today but i would temper that statement by saying aesthetically it has to be the iMac G4 and I will always have a soft spot in my heart for my very first mac, a Dual 1.42 MDD G4...

Did everyone forget about this lil' bundle of joy?

But for me the iMac G4 slips in just before the mini. :3

Yup, for me it has to be the original Mac Mini. I was after an easily transportable computer, but didn't want a portable. When the 2005 Mini came out it fitted my criteria, so i bought one, the first computer I owned.

It had it's shortcomings, and was about obsolete a few months later, with Apple's change to Intel. Still it was good for my needs, but when the HDD and the power supply packed a sad, in early 2009 I went for a Core 2 Duo, which looks the same, and is still soldiering on.

I think this poll is interesting because I(like others in this thread) have trouble deciding between the one they like the best based on design, and the one they like the best based on performance.

When it comes down to it though, I LOVE the PM G5. LOVE IT. I had to sell mine and wish that didn't. The customizability of it alone is amazing and the tower is beautiful.

When I get another one again(if that ever happens) then I'll be finding a large display again(preferably an Apple cinema display as well). Still going to max out the RAM, get SATA controllers, and make everything SATA if I can. It will be very beautiful and very warm at my desk year round.

I'm torn between the G4 Cube and the Power Macintosh 6100/60AV, the "pizzabox" machine of the original launch of the PowerPC. (Along with the 7100 and 8100.)

I voted "other:" the Twentieth Anniversary Mac.

I acquired one in Y2K. It's not a powerhouse like my MDD, but it makes for a mighty fine stereo system and one helluva conversation piece.

Not much love for the first gen iMac G5? I love mine. Granted I've had to upgrade it with 2GB RAM and a 750GB HD. Sucks that it's stuck with Leopard.

Mine is the 1.8ghz 20 inch model.

Favorite that I've owned? G5 iMac 2.0 (2 GB RAM, 250 GB HDD).

Favorite that I wish I owned? MDD G4. That case is "teh pretty."

The original beige G3s.

Finally, we started to use PC RAM - PC100 chips. Could buy them cheap from any PC shop.

And they had an IDE CD-ROM drive, which could be replaced with a Sony CRX175E CD burner easily.

Huge leaps forward at the time.

I voted for the g3 cube :)) but seriously, my favourite is the eMac. I had the 1.42 GHz one a few years ago. I did some serious gaming on that thing at the time. I know it wasn't the most powerful g4 around, but i liked the thing so much i still want one. I had upgraded it to the max. I'm about to get it back from the friend that bought it from me because he's upgrading. By the way, do you guys know if the airport from the quicksilver i have works in the eMac?

My vote goes for the PM G5. Just because of it's quad capabilities and being the only PM that can hold it's own against later PC's.

If the eMac is the 700Mhz or 800Mhz model it'll work. Otherwise it needs an AirPort Extreme card.

iMac G5 without a doubt. I love mine - it has been the most rock-solid PowerPC machine I've ever had the pleasure to own. It's fast, has a beautiful screen, plenty of modern ports, and it an absolute pleasure to get into and work on. I love how the entire back just pops off with three screws :)

Power Mac 7300 or Power Mac 9600.

Pffff... nothing from that vintage is even on this list. :p

The original iMac was wonderful of course, and I'm also quite fond of the same design cues in the B&W G3. The iMac G4 is pretty to be certain, but a bit overrated if you ask me. ;)

Of course I have to stand by my eMac; it's a well-built tank of a machine, and takes design elements from the iMac G3 as well as that beautiful white plastic of the iPod/iMac G4.

I miss my iMac G4. I loved the lampshade maneuverability of the screen and the clear circular speakers. Such a great machine.

My iMac G4 would be at my desk, if my G3 fit on my TV stand, but thanks to the maneuverability of the screen, the G4 fits perfectly

I loved the Blue & White Power Mac G3 for it's passively cooled CPU, easy overclockability, and the awesome case.

I also loved the MDD G4 for the dual CPUs and tons of drive bays, but the noise from that thing was just too much for me.

Got a maxed out G4 17' 2GB. I have MorphOS on it though. But, I before that I had 10.5 and 10.4. It ran 10.4 extremely well. But, MorphOS wipes it's ass clean(pun not intended).

I think the iMac G5 is the prettiest computer in the world, but after trying to (and ultimately failing) revive a problematic iMac G5 for several years they have somewhat lost their charm for me.

Thus, my answer has to be Power Mac G5.
