I used a Sony P (8" widescreen, 1600 x 768, 200ppi) for an hour at the sony store. The screen was amazing. It convinced me to upgrade my MBP (1440x900, 110ppi) to a HDMBP (1920x1200, 150ppi).

I wonder if Sony's CEOs can navigate on the 8" 1600 x 768 screen. It should be a fancy gadget, but I'm guessing it's ridiculously small.

It was an option when you first created the thread, but I don't know if you can change it now.

Anyway, 1024x768 for me, no matter what the screen size. (on a mac, anyway. I prefer 800x600 on Windows.

what about a 50inch tv?? surely youd want to look at some nice 1920x1080 goodness!?!?!?!?!?

Even on a 30 inch?

I voted for 1680x1050 because I have a Dell Inspiron E1505 hackintosh and I really like the resolution and the amount of screen space it offers in Mac OS X. I've also used a Dell Inspiron 6000 at my previous work with a 15" 1920x1200 screen and I found myself squinting at it a lot and found it hard to read at times. I feel that the 1440x900 resolution of current macbook pros to be little limiting, especially in the vertical resolution. I feel that 1680x1050 its the best compromise between screen size and usability but that's just me.

And I don't get these new laptops with a 1366x768 resolution.

ZOMG d00d ME WANTS 1920x1200 IN A 15 INCH LAPTOP YO

Seriously, that's way too small. I think 1680x1050 is perfect on a 17".

1920x1200 is too high for a 15" screen, oh i've got an idea, lets get an eepc netbook with a 12" screen and slap a 1920x1200 so we can spec whore.

On my MBP 15" (four months old), the highest screen res I have as an option is 1440 x 900. How are you guys getting higher resolutions?

newer mac
older mac with high res option
aftermarket modding

im on a unibody that has 1920
pretty sure the model before this had an option on BTO that allowed for 1920
heard some people just physically switched screens on their MBPs to make it happen.

15 inches with a ATI graphics card (or non LED backlit screen) can be modified to have a 1920x1200 screen. All 17 inches with a LED backlit screen are 1920x1200

14x9...i really don't see the point of 16x10. I saw a 17" MBP 19x10 screen recently and things were just a wee bit too difficult to read and i'm 24 yr old.
