The fact that I am typing this from a MacBook and can receive and respond to texts with others that have an iPhone and/or apple device. Very convenient.

I have a 6+ right now, and I am deciding between and samsung galaxy s8 or the X. Price wise and something new the s8 makes sense. However, the fact that iPhone has never given me trouble (other than my camera had an issue and a trip to the apple store fixed it for free without apple care!) is appealing. I am leaning towards the X for this reason.

I also have a few paid apps that aren't available on android. Going to be an interesting few weeks as I will decide between the s8 or the X before christmas (a gift to myself). Also, probably the best camera (X) available today on a smartphone (pixel 2 might beat it but I don't care for the design).

Apple has never failed me, so I guess you get what you pay for.

I agree w/the above poster that if I had to choose just one single factor that makes me prefer iPhone (after also having used Android for years), it would be "reliability." That includes ease of backup/restore, etc.

What is your favorite thing about your phone? Design? a specific app?

What makes iPhone special to me.

It keeps me connected with the world.

Sometimes I wish I could take a break from some people when things aren’t going well with someone. But it’s nice having people in your life, overall.

The apps. I have both an 8+ and a Pixel 2 XL and there are legitimate bases to prefer one or the other phone or operating system. But, for how I use my phone, most of the key apps in iOS are head and shoulders better.

It's the entire ecosystem for me, the way messages and Sonos and apps and Safari and calendars and reminders all work seamlessly across Mac/iPads/iPhone/Watch. So much of everything we do as a family is coordinated through these apps (and FaceTime) and I'm forever in different places with different devices. I have been on the iPhone 6 for three years now, and was on an 8 while waiting for the X (the 8 will go to my wife this week). The X is obviously nicer than the 6, but either would do me as a pinch. My old 6 will become our backup device as we have realised what a disaster a broken screen or failed phone would be to us.

iPhone works best for me. iOS is simple reliable and easy to use. Second comes the Apple customer service and continues software support if anything goes wrong.

My whole family uses iPhones for quite some time now, and even my mom / dad who are not so into new technology can use the devices to send images, messages, mails etc. because it's so simple to use, intuitive and never crashes.
For myself, it's the perfect phone because it never disappoints me, it does exactly what's intended to do and the variety of good apps is outstanding.

That it can sit in my work bag, silent, while I answer calls and messages using my laptop. Helps me stay focussed on where my work is...

There's other reasons but that's my favourite.

It's the lynchpin of my apple devices. I text/make & receive calls/Whatsapp from any of my devices through it.

My favorite thing about iPhone is how it seamlessly works together with all my other Apple device (Apple Watch, MacBook Pro and Apple TV). That ecosystem is what keeps me at using Apple products. Other manufacturers haven't even thought about a feature like this. And I would really miss it if I'd decide to switch.

But not just that. I also like how simple iOS works. Yes, it has become more 'cluttered' over the years, but as someone who's been an iOS user since 2009 I have adapted to all that. So there's really no learning curve for me in that regard.

Reliability and predictability of the iOS.

Quality of construction and materials used.

Quality of the app ecosystem.

Simplicity of the OS, syncing of everything with my Macs, and the fact that it is 6 years old now and still going strong (iPhone 6S with iOS7).

I am looking for a replacement now, but if it wasn't for the fact that a lot of apps require iOS8 now, and iOS9 completely rapes the A5 SOC, I would have helt onto it a year or two more. So trying to find a good offer on an iPhone 7 128GB, but darn, they are expensive. Black Friday gave next to no price reductions on iPhones here. :(

Repeating here, but simplicity of the OS, huge developer support, generally more optimised apps, and the seamless integration between my iPad and other iOS device users. On top of that, price aside, Apple do build desirable, reliable hardware. I don't mind paying a premium on something I carry around with me constantly.

I think what makes it special for me was when I got my iPhone X, setting it up and transferring my personal info from my iPhone 7 to the new iPhone X was magical. Just put them side by side, and then take a picture of the moving, fuzzy orb thingy, and then you're done. That was truly magical.

It always works! Because iOS :p

Plus automatic iCloud sync, super comfy form factor for small hands, wireless charging (though the novelty will probably wear off soon) and it's the most polished iPhone yet.

My favorite thing is knowing that owning one annoys android users.

Just kidding. For me it’s the simplest way to maintain stability, privacy and security. I’m a tinkerer by nature but happily “hired” Apple to administer that aspect of my personal life years ago.
