Yeah I think I get the first couple of paragraphs regarding the forcing of IS infants along a path toward the gender the medical profession sees most fitting, and the problems that obviously has caused many in the past.

I gotta say that I'm surprised by your 'Nazi rant', but if that your opinion then it's perfectly valid to state it I guess.

So all in all you saying that you think identifying to a gender isn't important, so long as each individual is happy with their lot.

Well I think I've learnt a little more on the subject, but I now have even more issues about which I'll have to consider how I think and feel about.

Pretty much.

My "nazi rant" is a result of having had dealings with the "transgender community" *shudders*. It's an experience I do not care to repeat.

Can't believe I missed this one for three pages.. rats.

But to answer the question: Depending on how cold it is out, I'm usually male.
 
So to cut a long story short, there are adult people walking around with natural, fully-formed breasts and penises?? I assumed that was a conscious choice (through an operation).

It is actually vanishingly rare to have fully-formed male and female genitalia. To have male genitalia along with some amount of breast development is much more common, and can be seen with the use of a variety of drugs (spironolactone, digitalis, cimetidine, alcohol abuse, estrogen, ketoconazole, are the classic examples). There are also a number of cases where there can be partial development of both sexual systems, such as in the case of pseudohermaphroditism. For instance, if the male fetus is insensitive to androgens, it will not develop all the right tubes, and you'll end up with an incompletely developed set of female genitalia, with testes buried in the labia. If the female fetus is exposed to too high a concentration of androgens, the opposite will happen, and there can be some testicular development, though ovaries are still present.

Of course, there is a whole host of gender identity questions in individuals with fully functional genitalia, but that is a separate matter from hermaphroditism and pseudohermaphroditism.

Mother Nature works in strange ways. :eek:

It has also been know for men to develop "breasts" as a result of hormone therapy for prostate cancer.

Chew on that one for a while kiddies.

Be careful. Like the hair on one's head vs the hair on one's back/arms/ears, as the fat increases the manboobs and todger play a kind of zero-sum game. So I heard.

Yup. You can also develop breasts from certain drugs for hypertension, ulcers, heart failure and arrhythmia, and fungal infections. Mother Nature works in strange ways; our adaptation of can also be rather odd.
