You’re asking me to calculate a ratio?:confused::eek:

Keep in mind that folks ratios are probably higher than what you're calculating. Total number of messages for members were carried over from the old days of VBulletin but likes didn't exist for most of those good old days and I don't think the likes it did have carried over to XF when we switched over.

Thankfully, we no longer have the "dislike" or "down" button.

Not only would that would play havoc with the ratios, (or require the consideration and calculation of different aspects to those ratios), but - when present - it introduced a really unpleasant element, note and tone to some of the discussions, threads and debates on the forum.

Actually, as @jkcerda well knows, other than his good self, @Renzatic, formerly of these threads and fora, (and lamentably no longer with us) had also amassed a considerable number of likes while a denizen who dwelt here.

If memory serves, he and @jkcerda held the top two spots for "likes" when such measurements were first calculated a few years ago.

A toast to the fallen! -- and many they are on all sides of our several ponds and political divides...

Amen to that.

Indeed, I shall lift a glass (a Waterford crystal claret glass, Lismore pattern) of Chablis (tonight's tipple du jour) to that.

Today is my first anniversary.

Over the year i've made 57 posts per month, or about 1.9 posts per day and each has an average of 1.36 likes.

So I guess I'm in the "ok" range, I'm not sure having that much posts per day is a good thing though.

Seems to me that chasing likes is the root of half of the problems around here... It just encourages people to post quickly and without nuance to get raw meat on the first page of comments.

Then, my friend, it may be high time to get to work again.
Amazingly busy right now, we are picking up new machinery at work. New press brake and a laser , that is keeping me buried for the next few months , did two quick trips to Chicago getting things set up. I have to go back about 3 more tones for training and it’s going to suck going there during winter time. But I am happy to tackle this as it’s a new direction for my CO

Yep... I liked Chicago whenever I was there in non-winter months, once I got slowed down enough from NYC pace to quit practically walking up the backs of people's legs on lunch hours. The locals back then (late 1960s) were perceptibly more easygoing while running errands than lunchtime crowds I was used to dealing with back east.

Good luck walking towards the lake in winter though. I like cold weather, but they get some righteous windchill in Chicago. We'll bump your likes for bravery alone if you post photos of the lakeshore in January. :p

Doubt I’ll leave the hotel much. I’m lucky the hotel has great food. It’s in the Elgin area and Lou Malanatis ( sp?) delivers. GREAT pizza from those guys

No, to be candid, I very much doubt that either "chasing likes" or, for that matter, "chasing post counts", are the root of half the problems here. To my mind, these "problems" may lie elsewhere.

Like/post ratio: 0.6.

20,000 posts and 3,000 likes.

In my defense there weren’t likes a long time ago..

*cough*

Anyway it's totally unfair we can't stick 10k likes on a quality post that we really really like. :p
