Aluminum, like the original, and also like the current lineup of iMacs, MacBooks and MacBook Pros. It fits better, feels better, and looks better.

I absolutely loved the aluminum backing of the original iPhone. It showed less wear than my current black 3G. So I definitely would prefer the aluminum over the glossy back for the new iPhone.

For me my top two options are the matte back and the aluminum, so I voted for the matte backing. I currently have a phone with the matte backing and I love it, it is extremely easy to clean, doesn't seem dirty, doesn't show fingerprints, and doesn't scratch (easily). It seems like the perfect backing to the phone. I would however like to see the backing remain in the same curved style as the 3G is, I like the curvature of the 3G over the original. And as much as I prefer the original aluminum backing over the current glossy plastic, I did not like the 3/4 aluminum, 1/4 plastic look, and I assume that a full aluminum casing would interfere with the wireless signals. So for me these recent rumors are looking good.

Carbon Fiber please! Lightweight and high tensile strength!

But its going to be plastic again. Better reception through plastic than Al.

I would love an single piece alloy back, but I would rather have a matte plastic back over a two piece aluminum/plastic back.
