Hi guys,

I've just ordered an iPad Pro and am waiting for the delivery. I'm wondering what would be the best option in terms of getting for a keyboard and mouse input. Of course the magic keyboard suddenly made the iPP a lot more interesting to me, it's just so expensive and also has it's drawbacks.

I've came up with different ideas on how to find a solution:

Apple Magic Keyboard:
+ Portable, All in one solution, turns iPP almost into a laptop
+ Best typing
+ looks great
- Very expensive
- need to remove iPad before using it as a tablet
- durability?

Apple Smart Folio Keyboard + (used) Magic Mouse:
+ Much cheaper
+ better to protect the iPad (compared to magic) ?
+ just flip to use flat as a tablet with pencil
- still expensive
- need to carry mouse around, less flexible

Logitech (or any other brand) folio/case with or without Trackpad:
+ cheaper than Apple
- heard some reports of them having connection issues and durability issues
- often ugly
- all in all worse typing and trackpad experience

random external keyboard and mouse:
+ cheap, low risk
+ flexible
- kind of destroys the purpose of the iPad
- lot of stuff to carry around

What do you guys think? Anyone got a comparison between Magic Keyboard and Smart Keyboard with a separate mouse/trackpad? The smart keyboard with separate mouse right now is kind of my favorite, any opinions on how it compares to the MK?

I love my Magic Keyboard, but I have also used iPads with a cheap, Omoton keyboard and a stand in the past and had good success with that.

Right now I’m looking for a desktop setup for my iPP to have when I’m gonna be looking at it a long time (to just have it more at eye level), so I’m on here looking for a good keyboard/mouse idea myself, although I may very well just get another Omoton keyboard. It was under $15.

Why not use an Apple Wireless keyboard and a Magic Mouse? They keyboard is about $80 and the mouse about the same, or you can use an Apple TrackPad if you like that better.

I’m considering it. I do love Apple’s keyboard and mouse, but I have a $300 MK for the iPad most of the time - just thought maybe I’d get something a bit less expensive for the desk.

Also, I’m not seeing the keyboard for $80 - where are you seeing that price?

The Logitech k380 keyboard and magic trackpad make a great combo. Portability could be better, but functionality is unmatched outside of the Magic Keyboard. Plus the k380 keyboard feels great! I actually prefer typing on it over the MK.

Great to hear this too. When I briefly had the Magic Keyboard, I also preferred the K380 too. Larger keys and has Esc key and the bonus function keys.
