I want to be able to run itunes while syncing my apple tv and listening to music, aim, and a internet browser with multiple tabs opened and not have my mahcine slow down. How fast of a proccesor, and how much ram will i need to achieve this

You will need the 2.0GHz MacBook without any question. It is the best computer out there for its price. And it comes with 2GB of Memory, so that should be enough for basic needs.

i didnt ask what type of mac i needed. i asked how fast of a proccesor and how much ram i need

Any current generation mac= any possible spec combination of currently offered macs is adequate.

Do I need to state it a different way by searching out the minimum specs of all available macs and quoting them to you?

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5H11 Safari/525.20)

My personal opinion is to pick up a white macbook but really if you wanna be cheap and make one you'll need anything above 1.8ghz dual core and 1gb of ram to have have something that's not gonna crash, only problem will be that it ain't osx :p

Pretty much any computer made within the last few years will do. "how fast of a processor" doesn't mean anything. If I have a 3.0 GHz Pentium 4 vs. a 1.83 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, the Core 2 Duo will be faster. For your tasks, 2GB of memory (not RAM) is ample.

then what type of processor would i need. and by 2 gb of memory do you mean hard drive? because that would be terrible i need at least a 320 gb hard drive to hold all my videos and music and files

By 2GB of memory I mean RAM memory. I also suggest at least an Intel Core 2 Duo processor. And a good graphics card since you are very media oriented. HD video requires good graphics. If you want a mac (sounds like you don't but anyway) an iMac would do nicely.

People are using mac minis in home theater setups to play 1080p video.

okay thanks. i do want a mac very bad its just not exactly in the price range. with a intel core 2 duo proccessor would 2.0 ghz be good?

processors these days are very powerful and your tasks will hardly hinder them. if you dont want slow downs in Leopard with lots of apps open i would recommend 2 gigs of RAM minimum. so pretty much any Mac will be good for you… but i wouldnt go for the Mac Mini now as it only has 1 gig of RAM and is way overdue for an update.

I can do pretty much all of what you want, plus Photoshop CS4 at the same time, on my three year old Powerbook, and it runs great. I can only imagine any new computer would fly, so I'd say just get what you can afford.

I think Photoshop just takes up a bunch of memory, which most computers have these days.

What exactly is your price range?

well its like 300-500$ but if my crappy computer can make it until august when im 14 and old enough to get a job im gonna save up for the new imac

For what you just said: A 1.83 GHz Core Duo from 3 years ago, and 1-1.5 GB of the slower RAM, also from 3 years ago.

Heck, I think I was doing all that in 2003 with a Motorola G4 processor (1 GHz), except the AppleTV streaming wasn't around yet. It wouldn't be difficult for an old system to do, though. The speed depends on your internet, not the CPU.
