Hey everybody, before I tell me story/ why I posted here is a summary : I'm going in 7th grade and because Apple Computers are good ( if you want the best, you gotta get apple/ you gotta pay ) so I'll be using my Apple probably near the end of high school ? So, for my birthday, I got my first Apple Computer, a 20inch iMac Right from the APPLE Store.

So now looking at videos, I'm beginning to think I should have gone with the MacBook or MacBook Pro, keep in mind that ( not mentioned above, I am currently developing some homebrew and some iPhone and Mac Apps ) BTW, we ( family ) were on a tight budget ( just bought a new car, etc. ) so, from the older and much smarter people, I would like to know if I made a good deal with this 20" iMac, early 2009 model, no customizations.

Oh and don't start saying oh should have a PC or some useless crap/spam, it wastes your time, and my time and everyone else's time reading it !!!!:apple:

With an iMac already there's no point in getting a laptop for video editing. Your iMac will last you quite a while.

7th graders can drive cars now? :D

Your iMac will last you the 5 years until you start college (my they grow up so fast) then you can get a MBP or what ever Apple will call their notebooks then.

The only advantage to getting the macbook/pro is portability. If you don't need portability you have made the right choice.

@ Andrew Henry : LOL .

Actually, I'm not video editing, well actually I do a little video editing, but I meant, I saw more people with MacBook- MacBook Pro then with iMacs, so I was wondering if a mac book pro is better or an iMac for "education" ( like high school, college etc. )

In terms of hardware, the low end iMac and the 13"/base 15" MBP are pretty much the same. You'll only need a portable if you, well, need it to be portable. And since you chose against that the first time, you probably made the right move.

Phew, 7th grade and you have your own computer and phone? I didn't get my first computer until 9th grade, and it was a cheap Walmart HP for the family. 444Mhz of pure bliss. Hell, I didn't even have a real cell phone until my sophomore year of college (Prepaids until that point).

I don't know about phone, but my son got his first computer when he was 3. My wife and I got it for him so we could finally reclaim ours ;) And yes, he knows how to use it.

Actually this is like my 3rd computer ! My first was a very old computer in India then I came here and my dad gave me a Compaq Pesario 2500 ! Which we upgraded the 40GB HDD into 120 GB and 128 mb DDR ram into 1 GB ram DDR. Then a HP Pavillion DV 2050 a $1000 computer which shoud've been a MAC  but anyways my cellphone, a loyal Razr V3 ! Gotten in near the end of 4th grade !
