I don't think I saw this anywhere in this thread but one of my favorite's is:

Skitch : I love using this application to simply drag and drop random screenshots to my girlfriend or other people I am talking to on iChat... The interface is extremely easy to use and works great!

a quick google search brings macmp3gain on the foreground, I guess that's what he means.
