What Macbook pro to get?

I am student from the UK and i am thinking of buying a mac after years using windows. My current laptop has just gone painfully slow and i need a new one Asap

I keep hearing how great the retina macbook is but i am not sure if i should purchase it since it's a lot of money and i am a student.

I want to use my laptop for some light music production(my brother), doing essays, browsing and watching movies/listening to music.

Not sure if i should get the 13' macbook pro or get the 15'.

Macbook Air, the pros are for heavy editing and gaming. plus the MBA has the same graphics card.

You said you want an optical drive and on a budget. Go for either a refurb 15" MBP or 13" MBP.

Just the right size

I'm just curious after reading your well detailed post. Which one did you choose for yourself?

None of the above, at least for now. Still using an older MacBook. The RMBP is more tempting than I thought it would be, once actually touched and viewed in person. Only I wish Apple would deign to put near the performance of a 15" in what to many is the perfect size of a 13". So the question of when a 13" RMBP will appear.
