Though I have my Apple stuff listed in my sig, I rarely read sigs anyways.

They shouldn't be that big of a deal and as mentioned, either ignore them or turn them off in your control panel.

The pointless part is when people start listing the the processor name, hard drives, memory, firmware, etc.

I think people will get the idea from the name of the computer itself. We all know roughly how powerful an iMac, MB, MBP or MacPro is. If your question is more specific then list additional info in the post. Anything else is just playing who got a bigger.....

Well, I like to see what my fellow mac rumors members have.

I my self, spent a lot of time convincing my wife to let me get a mac pro, and I'm very proud of it.:)

Me, I'm used to the list of computers in people's signatures, though I would never do that myself (check my sig). What I really don't like is when people overuse the :apple: or just randomly use it without a very good, clear reason. (i.e. when someone's sig has something like this :apple::apple::apple::apple::apple::apple:[name of website]:apple::apple::apple::apple::apple:. Used too much, I really hate the Apple logo. Or else when someone who recently switched is asking for help and closes their post with ":apple: pwns" or something like that.

There are three things in life that are inevitable.
1. Death.
2. Taxes.
3. Once every 2-3 months someone will start a new thread (or continue an old in this case) asking that there be a ban put on people placing their computer's specifications in their signature.

Another guarantee is Doctor Q posting his ever so typical explanation of the 'good' and 'less good' way to post those specifications in these threads.

Not that I think it is a problem, I do like routines. Just a small observation.

Well for me I like the Apple logo. I'm proud of my Apple collection. That is why I have one in my sig. Actualy I had two, but after reading your post. I deleted one of the two.

Like I said, I'm proud of my collection of macs that I have in my sig. Take for example my ibook g3 I purchased back 2003. It is running tiger 10.4.11. The thing wont die. Or my emac, I have set up in our garage. It still works! I think thats cool that they still work, and are still capable little machines.

I don't look at it as barging. Or something I have to prove to other Macrumors members as being Apple worthy. To me I just want to share my joy and love for Apple. I guess I'm what you would call, a Apple fanboy.

For example If my house was on fire, and I knew my wife and kids were out safely. And I had seconds to spare. To choose between running out side with some clothes on my back. Or running outside naked with my mac. I definitely would choose running out naked with my mac.:D

No one cares!

I recently fired up my flux capacitor to take a quick trip to 1 Infinite Loop in the future.

You should see the Mac I brought back but I'm not gonna tell ya.

:D

LOL I love this thread.

Oh and in case anyone is wondering, the Macs I got are in my sig. :D and they are staying there (I used to have 4 Macs).

I prefer to see what Mac the poster has when they're asking questions about their system instead of asking him. I don't see this a reason to brag. If we're in this forum, we're like a huge community that are here to help the others.

That's exactly why I put my stuff in my sig, so I don't have to type it every time and so time isn't wasted with someone having to ask.

OK, that's what i had:

2001-2006: PowerMac G4 Digital Audio 466 MHz/512 MB RAM/40 GB HDD. In 5 year i upgraded the internal RAM to 3x512 MB, HDD and also i've got installed an Sonnet G4 1.400 MHz CPU (the 2 MB L3 cache edition).

2006-2007/11: got a PowerMac G5 1.8 Dual CPU from the german eBay. Selled the G4. After a little more than a year i also sold the G5, since it become somehow slow...

2007: used for some months a PC with 1,8 GHz C2D CPU and Winxp.

2008: selled the PC and buyed a used Mac mini, upgraded the internal RAM to 4 GB. Now I'm waiting for that CPU upgrade prices falls (i mean the Intel T7400). HDD upgrade is on the way, hopefully next week i've got a new 200 GB/7200 rpm 2,5" HDD in my mini. The internal 80 GB will be used as external disk in an USB case.

That's all for now.

Well, since I can't fit even half of my list in my sig, I'll list them here (sorted by age, starting with the oldest). All of these are 100% working, except for the MDD (at the moment).

:apple: 1997 Power Mac 7300- 300 MHz G3, 320 MB RAM, 20 GB HD, Radeon 7500, OS X 10.3, OS 9

:apple: 1997 Power Mac G3 (Beige)- 500 MHz G3, 512 MB RAM, 40 GB HD, Radeon 7500, OS X 10.3

:apple: 1999 Power Mac G3 Blue & White- 500 MHZ G4, 640 MB RAM, Radeon 9200, 80 GB HD, OS X 10.4

:apple: 1999 PowerBook G3 (Lombard)- 400 MHz G3, 512 MB RAM, 40 GB HD, OS X 10.4, OS 9

:apple: 2002 Power Mac G4 (Quicksilver)- 800 MHz G4, 1 GB RAM, 2x 80 GB HD's, Radeon 9000, OS X 10.4 Server, OS 9

:apple: 2003 Power Mac G4 (MDD)- Dual 1 GHz G4, 1.5 GB RAM, 200 GB HD + 2x 80 GB HD's, Radeon 9800 Pro, OS X 10.5

:apple: 2004 Power Mac G5- Dual 2 GHz G5, 6 GB RAM, 500 GB HD + 160 GB HD, Radeon 9800 Pro, OS X 10.5

:apple: 2004 iBook G4- 1.2 GHz G4, 768 MB RAM, 30 GB HD, OS X 10.5

Currently, my main machines are the G5 as my desktop system, the Quicksilver as my server, the iBook as my portable and the Lombard as sort of a stationary laptop/mini desktop (since the battery is crap).

I think it's funny that this thread is digressing into people naming what kind of Macs they have anyway. Of course, I think it's funny that this thread was resurrected twice and only a few people seemed to notice (and I was not one of them). I somehow doubt the OP reads/cares about this thread anymore.

No one cares!

It's a Mac site so it makes sense. Now if this were a website devoted to cosmetics or Civil War history, then listing all your Macs would be strange.
