Okay I get a few discounts.

So mini m4 with 24gb and 2tb ssd costs me $1,439
mini m4 pro with 24gb and 4tb ssd costs me $2,339

There are other setups I could pick
mini m4 pro with 48gb and 4tb ssd cost me $2,699
mini m4 with 32gb and 2tb ssd cost me $1,619

Ideally a m4 with 32gb and 4tb ssd is my best fit but they do not sell it.

I need a big boot drive 2tb or 4tb.

I lean to the cheapest pick which is the m4 with 24gb ram and 2tb ssd.

The work I do the 24gb ram is likely to not get out grown and the 2tb ssd should be big enough for 3-4 years. Plus it costs the least. Any thoughts also does anyone have the 2tb ssd in the plain m4 and if you do is it any good.

I am not sure if the m4 pro has a faster 2tb ssd or a faster 4tb ssd

Just out of curiosity, what requires you to have such a large boot drive? Apple’s SSD upgrade prices are so outrageous that it’s hard to recommend going that large.

I did M4 Pro 24/512 plus a Thunderbolt NVMe 4TB drive that cost me about $300. Yeah, it's measurably slower than internal - but not NOTICEABLY slower.

I went 16/512 and reallly happy, I mostly work on Affinity.

The money saved allows me to buy a large external ssd wich can be used with my iPad as well.

You would have to outline some use cases for a good recommendation. There is no difference in the pro with 2tb versus the base with same. Run AI apps so can understand the need for a larger boot drive. Not sure why you need 32gb ram. At this point I would sat base mini with 24 ram and 2tb. If you think you need more why are you not looking at a studio?

What? 2 TB is a $600 option.
No I am a US veteran the basic mini is 539 has 16gb ram and a 256gb ssd add 720 you get 2tb ssd if you go to 1259 and keep 16gb ram add 180 more you are at 24gb ram. I think 24gb ram will always work for me and it will take 3 to 4 years to fill the ssd. So using the 24gb with 2tb ssd works. I go to 1459 plus tax. And I likely will do that.

@ terryw1 the new studio is not out yet. I do agree that the 24gb and 2tb base model is likely what I should get.

My use is crypto related so I need the full blockchain on the boot drive.
Which effectively means 2tb is minimum size. Not 1tb.
