I'm going to have to throw my hat in the ring for the Logitech MX500 series as well. I use an MX700 (wireless USB) on my desktop. I love the design, the fit, and the fact that it has a reassuring weight to it. If you'll be traveling, get the corded. If you'll only be using the mouse at home, then the MX700 is fine.

I don't particularly care for Bluetooth peripherals, especially on the road. Leaving Bluetooth enabled, other than wasting batteries and not being allowed on planes, could pretty easily pose a security risk. Granted, it's not a PC, but I only turn BT on to sync my phone, and then BT gets turned off on both. The security is minimal.

The Mighty Mouse might be worth a try, though I've yet to see one in person.

Well, I've just got my Apple wireless mouse and keyboard. Wow! They are so cool. How did I ever use a wire?

Thanks for all the tips about battery time etc. I'll get some rechargeable AAs as soon as possible.

Man I love these things! I took them out of the box, put the batteries in, turned them on. My iMac picked them up immediately and in the words of a certain Steve we all know and adore, "boom!" They just worked. :)

If you are looking for a mouse to take portable with you there is only one I can recommend:

Logitech V500

Best portable mouse I have ever used!

Done. Apple's lithium batteries crapped out half an hour ago bringing their total life-span up to one month and one day.

It's onto the rechargeable batteries which at this stage are only giving me four out of five bars in my System Preferences despite being hot off the charger and straight out of the packet. Meh.

I can't believe no one has suggested to just use the trackpad. I got my new Powerbook 15" last week, and I have gotten so used to the trackpad, I don't even want to use a mouse. I would say hold off until you get the PB, and give the trackpad a shot before buying a mouse.

The trackpad even has its own built in scroll wheel which works wonderfully.

I completely agree, learn a couple keyboard shortcuts and you're set. However, while at home i do use a M$ trackball explorer with an Apple BT keyboard.
