Hi all,

I thought that it would be great to start a thread on the topic "What upcoming new games (any platform) are you looking forward to!?"

I'll start with a few (in no particular order)....

Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O.
Virtua Fighter Project (6)
Resident Evil 9
Okami (Sequel)

Avowed

Ghost of Yotei

Vampire: The Masquerade: Bloodlines II (maybe this will finally come out in 2025...? 🤪)

I like RPGs, but is it me, or are these all dark, gothic plots? Some big strides in cinematics and facial animation, but nothing here that grabs me at first glance. 2 names: Witcher 4 and Dawn of Bloodwalker. In my old age, consistently dark environments are turning me off. 🤔

Steel Hunters- Two player team, 5 teams, Extraction Shooter in early access. Play it on The WarGaming Portal or Steam. I’ve been playing World of Warships for almost 10 years, by the same developer, cursing frequently, but continue to play because even though you rely on 11-14 other players (your team), against another team of 15 players, the gameplay is more strategic, than frantic tactical. And I can play solo with a group of strangers.

Yes, frequently your team sucks and you lose, but I find this easier to deal with instead of teams of two which you find in SH, which I have not played only watched trailers.

Teams of 2, possibly paired with strangers who refuse to respawn if they get mad. I’d think spawning would be automatic, maybe their players are just quitting the match before it’s over leaving their teammate hanging. I don’t want to be tied to one other stranger nor be forced to play coop. At least with a team of 15 such as WoWS, you can mitigate one bad player most of the time or you’re just faced with a bad team. Your chances seem better with the larger team instead of paired. Also, I imagine they’ll be people living on this game playing together and you won’t stand a chance as a casual player. Of course, maybe I’m wrong.🤔

Star Wars Outlaws 2024 has been marked down to $35 (from $70) on Steam till 5May. Would you recommend it? I'm playing the Demo, nice graphics, nice atmosphere. You have a critter as a companion.

I loved it. I didn't play it until after the 3rd major patch, and by that point I think a lot of the "clunky" stealth mechanics had been fixed.

I mean it's still trendy not to like it because they made the main character ugly and because you can knock out a stormtrooper by punching them in the helmet, but then it's a game. I don't think strict adherence to reality is THAT important.

I enjoyed it. It wasn't prefect but by the 3rd patch I thought it was good.

I like RPGs and action RPGs. This was a typical Ubisoft action RPG.

Did you play on the PC? If so, maybe you could help me with my Grapple Hook issue. :)

edit: The grapple hook issue may have been completely operator error, but not sure. A big giant E appears when you are in position to use the grapple hook with a grapple point, and before a patch, when thinking I had this issue I never saw an E. It’s possible I was not in range of the suspect grapple hook, that I could not get to work. 🤔

Crosswind on PC, especially after Atlas was abandoned by that horrible company Snail Games USA. I’d love a good modern pirate survival game.

Witcher 4, Vampire: Bloodlines 2, followup to Cyberpunk 2077 and Larions next game.
But I guess Vampire Bloodlines 2 will be far from the amazing original, it takes a rare dedication to come up with something like that.

Starfinder: Afterlight
Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles
Witcher 4
Bloodlines 2
GTA6
Probably the most excited for Guild Wars 3.

Having fun with Corepunk right now and will probably try Bellatores and Star Resonance but I don't really have much faith in those two.

(Avowed is already out and I have put ~150 hours into it so you could say I'm happy with that!)

Rest of 2025:
- Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines 2 - as others said, expectations are low.
- The Outer Worlds 2 - my expectation is Outer Worlds 1 plus Avowed but bigger ... which will make me very happy!

Looking for a report on VMB2 and TOW2. I was disappointed in the original TOW. Although I’m enjoying Starwars Outlaws with zero romance,, as a rule I expect some romance in RPGs now. TOW had none and the environment did not satisfy me either.

I understand you mean 'protagonist romance', but I absolutely believe that Pavarotti / Junlei is one of the absolute best game romances I have ever played (sure not as good as Cyberpunk or BG3 or some of the classic Bioware)

I know TOW is divisive due to its tight and smaller scope, but for me it is classic Obsidian in so many ways - the journey is the point, and the writing makes the journey. When they added the expansions and then the 'Spacer's Choice Edition' which essentially removed the level cap, it really opened things up!

Why? its been a fairly popular game, and includes the richness found in Obsidian Games.

I found the game, to be quite enjoyable, I thought the game was a tad short, but once you include the DLCs its nicely sized imo. I've also found it to be a decent replayabililty.

Personally, I love the writing in Obsidian games which makes me really dive deep and explore everything, so when I played Spacer's Choice Edition it took me more than 80 hours to complete. (Avowed took me even longer) Which I totally get is on the long side :)

Something about the atmosphere, maybe the artwork, I just never got acclimated to the environment or the social interaction. I realize much of this is in the players (my) head. 😐 I don’t need romance to be immersed in an RPG, Starwars Outlaws proves that, but I need to be pulled in by whatever it is that affects me positively and emotionally. Dragon Age 2 is a decent example, I loved the environment, the magic combat was decent but character interaction with your party was too shallow, combat started feeling repetitive, and I reached a point where the routine of travel (fast travel highly restrictive unless you cheat) felt repetitive, hit my wall of what’s the point, and lost my immersion. :(

I honestly am not sure if I replayed it more than once (1x as Paladin, 1x as Sorcerer), and I mostly remember it for how rushed it was and how much of the world felt copied & pasted from Origins. And of course it was - but back then you would still have actual developers who would make comments on a variety of game forums, so those issues were known even before release.
