I keep every picture I take that's technically correct. Out of focus or severely over/underexposed shots get deleted right away...then onto starring...

Everything that is technically correct automatically gets a 1 star because I want to keep it

I'll 2-star pictures that I want to share with family/friends just because they like looking at more than 2-3 pictures. This is typically around 20-25% from a set, and i only do minimal processing on these

3-star pictures are ones I feel are worthy of sharing on Flickr/Google+, about 10-15%

4-star pictures are the ones I feel are best of the set, around 1-2%. I usually post these to 500px (where I post only my best)

5-star pictures are extremely rare. I only have 1 5-star picture in my Aperture library right now. It's a shot that I believe is my absolute best picture since starting this hobby, and I hope to add some more 5-star shots soon :)
