I went to the intel website to see what processors are available and they list the processors as i7-4770... and then a letter K, R, T or something like that. I WILL be buying a new 27" iMac and would like to to know which processor is in the current iMac. As I see it, intel offers several different i5 and i7 processors that have the same ghz ratings but yet they are different processors. I'd like to know which one they are using now (the i5 and i7) so that I can see what difference is made when they do the next speed bump.

Does anyone know the answer to this because I wasn't able to tell on the Apple site.

k-processors are overclocking ones. Apple doesn't use them.
Since Sandy Bridge CPUs hit the market, Apple used s-processors (a bit downclocked versions) for 21.5 iMacs and ordinary no-suffix models for the elder 27 model. So Apple probably will go that route for the next iMacs.
But this year r-processors sporting Iris Pro iGPU shown up, and the most confusing part is there are three of them and this little line-up fits 21.5 iMac CPU options completely. Which may point at dGPU elimination from the next 21.5 iMacs and turning to iGPU usage. Hopefully that's just coincidence, and we'll get usual CPU options with discreet graphics on-board.
