I want to use Keynote while playing guitar, and I want to be able to go forward and backwards with slides, controlling it with some pedals. What devices will let me control Keynote with my feet?

Thanks!

Are you talking about the spread sheet software provided by apple?? If so I don't really understand the question?? If not I can't find the software you mean and are you using it in windows.

Google "usb foot pedal" and you'll find a lot of options. They're typically programmable so you can define which pedal triggers a specific key (like the right or left arrow for Keynote).

If you're a maker type and enjoy tinkering with electronics, Adafruit has the parts and instructions to build your own: https://learn.adafruit.com/usb-foot-switch

I'd avoid the Leap controller. I tried one and it wasn't reliable enough to actually use to replace the trackpad or mouse. Fun to tinker with but not ready for applications where missing gestures causes problems.

This is for someone to use their feet to control a powerpoint presentation while playing the guitar, its not for general everyday use and accuracy doesn't seem to be the main thrust of this, while it may not be the best for everyday control it can certainly swish through a presentation.

Possibly, but my experience the LEAP was very sensitive to position and didn't reliably registered desired actions. If one is playing music the LEAP not responding could be distracting and impact the plying. If it were me I'd look to a foot mouse as a more reliable and considerably cheaper alternative.

Easy and cheap solution. Put your bluetooth mouse on the floor. tap on it with your toe when needing to go forward.
Probably what I would hack together.
An enclosure for a mouse. Slide the mouse in, tap on the left to hit the left mouse button, tap on the right to hit the right mouse button.

That's a great idea. My worry is no mouse will have buttons big enough I can control with my feet. I wonder if getting a video game controller or something similar with larger controllers than a mouse might be another solution.

USB pedals seem to be fairly common, but many need a PC for configuration. This is sold by Apple directly so it will definitely work, if a little pricey.

Well well well, lolls like mister big feet is here to rain on the parade :p

I second just getting a usb button, it’ll be like another button for you pedal rig.

Not sure if your looking to connect to a Mac, an iPad, or a PC, but there are a ton of devices made specifically for music so that you can control via foot pedal while conducting or playing.
