I love Reeder a lot, but I wish it would automatically update my feeds on its own when it's running instead of needing me to constantly sync to Google Reader by hand.

Are there any decent readers that have this functionality?

Edit to add: I'm looking for something that can refresh on a schedule automatically, every five/ten/fifteen minutes etc, not just when the app is opened.

Newsrack updates them when I launch it, and then i can rerun it when I'm in it with one push of a button.

Gee, that would be annoying to have to manually force them to update!

Well, this isn't quite what I was looking for.

Reeder updates my feeds every time I launch the program as well, but I was hoping for something that would update them while the program was running every few minutes or so.

I have Osfoora for twitter, for example, and every 5 minutes it resyncs my twitter feed to pull in new messages. I was hoping for something that would do this for RSS feeds as well.

Have you tried pulse from the App store? I really like this news reader. It also allows Offline sync.

Look into MobileRSS HD... I'm not sure if it does what you are looking for or not, but it the second best rss app behind Reeder.

Do you have it? It looks nice but I'm not really eager to drop $6 if it doesn't do the automatic syncing that I'm looking for.

Have, you emailed the developer of the one you use to see if it is something they can add? They might just not have thought about it and it could be simile to add for t hem (or not! LOL!)

My stuff doesn't change that fast that I don't care if i have to hit it in a few minutes or not.

You could have a look at Feeddler; I don't think that it automatically refreshes feeds on a schedule, however each manual refresh is a lot faster than NewsRack. In some ways the experience is quite similar to using Google Reader on the web. On the downside the App isn't as polished as NewsRack. If you want to try it out there is both free and paid versions available.

MobileRSS HD will refresh automatically.

EDIT: I understood your post wrong. It will NOT refresh while you are in the app, only on startup. Sorry.
