Hey,

Just thought it'd be useful for those of us thinking about getting an MBP to hear what screen/size machine those lucky enough to already have one have got. Say which you got, what apps you plan to use it for, how often you plan to take it out and about or leave it on your desk, and your general opinion on the screen and size for what you're using it for.

I got a 17" MBP that was not high-resolution, since at the time I bought it the high-resolution option wasn't available. I use iTunes, Firefox/Safari, Eclipse (a Java IDE), and several other apps regularly on it (I can't recall the names of the other apps). I take it with me to school - it comes in handy for doing homework on the go. Other times it stays on my desk. I love the 17" screen - it makes me a lot more productive. I would have opted for the high-resolution option, had it been available when I was ready to buy, since I have the kind of workflow that could take advantage of it.

I am currently waiting for a 17" 1920x1200.

I went for this so that I can have a lot of screen real estate when using Photoshop, Quark, Illustrator and InDesign. Also so that when connected to my 1600x1200 monitor the vertical pixel dimensions are the same. I am also looking forward to playing a few select games on the high resolution, as I'm sure it will look fantastic.

I have been stuck with an old PC desktop for years and am thoroughly looking forward to having a desktop equivalent that I can take to different locations to use. I don't however intend on using it on the move much. I just plan on taking it out of the bag and using it once I have arrived somewhere.
