Im trying to complete my setup for personal and for WFH! :) Just gonna quickly show it off as well in the attachment.

There is a final bit missing, a pair of desktop speakers. So I have these options that I am considering.

  1. Kanto Yu2 - Ridiculous in price in my opinion, for a bit more lowed end, almost as much or even more has to be spent on a woofer.
  2. Audioengine a2+ - Same as Kanto situation, price is just incredible
With these two, it seems that every single youtube tech blogger has those, and I suspect there is a reason for that. So I wanted to ask, if anyone else has them in their set up? Are they actually worth it, as I am struggling to justify this kind of cash.

There is also:

  1. Creative T40 Series II - old classic, wired, but is meant to have a "beast" of a sound.
  2. Creative T60 Bluetooth enabled, looks damn good.
  3. Creative T100 Bluetooth enabled, has a remote and most RMS out of all creative series.
Now these are a lot more afforable and considering that I have a pair of 8 year olds Creative T10s, i suspect these are good as well? I mean my T10 that is currently hooked up to an android box in our kitchen TV can still provide decent bass and overall clarity after many years.

So, my question is, the price of the 2 expensive ones, is it justified in your opinion?
As someone who wants to watch a movie, or listen to some EDM during work when possible.

I would appreciate any input from someone who has owned any of those.
Logitechs look just ugly to me for some reason! :) I don't know why. And I am a person who runs a MX Keys and MX Master 3 mouse set up.

Note, I am trying to save some space. :)

I have these and they are great paired (wired) with iMac, for small speakers with no separate sub woofer.

Head a lot of good reviews on the Audio Engine A2+. I was leaning towards a pair, but ended up getting a Schitt Magni 3 and Modi 3 for headphones.

I would recommend the A2+ especially if you can buy them at the refurbished price from audio engine's website.

You may also wish to consider the desktop audio monitors from the likes of PreSonus, Mackie, etc, and others in that segment.

I do admire the clean, modern looks of those two models, but can't get past the notion of active speakers that lack front controls for basic volume, and/or power. But to get those features requires moving up the line, and even more ridiculous pricing, even if something like the YU4 adds other niceties like a remote control. I almost bit on the YU4 during an holiday sale, but still couldn't justify the price.

When I went through the process, I focused my attention on models that 1) weren't constructed of plastic, 2) came from non-audio accessory brands, or 3) were marketed as "computer" speakers or similar.

I also considered rolling my own, with a pair of passive monitors, and a mini-amp, but decided on the simplicity of a ready-made active solution. The possibilities there were almost too endless.

The best combination of value, features, and performance for me were a pair of Fluance Ai40s ($200 then, plus BF sale -50), but they are larger than what you seek. But in speakers, there's really no substitute for size, so even their 5.25" woofers rely on some DSP trickery to flesh out the bottom. A small 2-4" driver is going to have an even harder time delivering a full-range experience. The Ai40s have been supplanted by a newer, refined Ai41 model that also got a bump in price, but still quite reasonable at $250.

I also tried a pair of the popular Edifier 1280 bookshelves, which were great value, but didn't cut it sonically for me, with a big hole in the mid-range.

It will mostly depend on what compromises you're willing to suffer -- size/sound, convenience, price, etc.

There are some pretty good audio reviewers on YT, but I would not include "looks good on a tech blogger's video" on my list of criteria for decision making. Your setup should be able to accommodate something larger than the small 3" models, unless size is your most important criteria.

Over the years I always went with 2.1 computers speakers with my setup! In my bedroom it really was room filling at least and could get loud without clipping! Eventually I went with my own sub and decent set go audio speakers with a mid range and tweeter into in them!

I had the Audioengine a2+and they are fantastic. I am now considering getting the A5+ fro my desk setup! Bit worried that they will look too big though!

Folks. decided to go with this set up! :) It's now complete. Tell me what you think?
Creatives were on Christmas sale, and I snatched them up! :)
Thanks to everyone who pitched in, but 300 for a pair of speakers seemed too much to me, and these satisfy my needs! :)

I use Edifier G2000

small, very powerful, good bass for its size
uses USB for sound input (so no hassle with 3.5mm jack)
has ambient lighting and fun booting sound (basically car revving sound, lol).
can also receive sound from iPhone or iPad

My question is sense Apple is going big on audio in Videos/Movies when is a speaker system able to do better audio audio for computers that can handle these videos/movie with expanded audio?
