Firstly: What do you need to buy?

In other words, do you need a new Apple watch, or do you simply want one?

A second consideration to bear in mind: Can you afford to buy this new watch without wincing, or, will replacing the battery serve to extend the life of your current watch if buying a new one is not an urgent necessity?

I replaced the battery (twice) and the keyboard (once) on my ancient MBA 11", thereby extending the life of that wonderful computer by at least four years.

Try them both on.

Perhaps measure your wrist.

Head to a watch store (one that sells traditional wrist watches) and try a few on for size and comfort.

Seriously: Nobody here can advise you on what strap, or band size, suits you best, or feels most (or more) comfortable on your wrist; this is something you will have to decide for yourself, and discover what your own, personal, preferences actually are.

Apple has the wrist strap sizes on the website. You can use a tape measure and measure your wrist. If you don't have a tape measure, get a ruler and a piece of paper and transpose the markings from the ruler to the piece of paper, then cut the paper and wrap it around your wrist (like a home made tape measure).

Grab a new aluminum 11 and enjoy it. New 11 $299 or $329 depending on size. Sell your 7 for whatever you can get ($100?). That’s a cheap upgrade!

If your watch is "slow and sluggish", that's a software problem, not a battery problem.
If your watch doesn't last thru the day (or whatever), that's a battery problem, not a software problem.

If your watch gets hot and doesn't register clicks at all, like my 10-yr-old original Macbook Air, that's a hardware problem! 😉
