I am truly shocked that only one person so far has mentioned BBC News. Both in terms of content and technical achievement it has to be one of the miracles of the Web. No advertisers, constantly updated, in-depth content, excellent video (from actual BBC news), great layout and the best cross-referencing I have ever seen on a news site.

Of course, with a budget of tens of millions of dollars it *should* be good!

Anyway, check out news.bbc.co.uk

actually Skillz you're absolutely right about that.

you know that i had not noticed that there's no advertising on BBC? how freaky is that? is it that i'm just so used to tuning all the ads out at other sites that i just fail to see that they have none?

I go in this order

gmail
livejournal
deviantart
fotka.pl (a polish rating picture thing haha its addicting)
macrumors
flvs.net (for online courses I take to gain extra credits for HS)
and sometimes showstudio.com

oh and I forgot, every friday I go on ebaumsworld.com to get a good laugh :)

I have recently updated my tabs list and so when I open up firefox and open up my favorite tabs I get:

Yahoo! Mail
Gmail
Myspace.com
Anness.org (my personal mail)
MacRumors
Texas State Technical College NST Forums (www.networksecuritytech.com)
Google

Common sites I visit apart from daily sites:

qrz.com, arrl.org, contesting.com, wwyc.net, and wikipedia (the first four are ham radio sites).

I am members at a bunch more sites, but those are the ones that I visit on a regular basis. Anyhow, I find these kind of threads ot be interesting to look through. Lets us know what people are into apart from Macs.

Because us brits fork out a licence fee to the BBC. No adverts on their radio, TV, websites. It's beautiful. Sure they probably don't have as big pay packets as those big american networks but at least they have pride! or whatever it is.

Now... if only they could have content on BBC3 and 4 in the mornings :D

Pretty much just MR, Google and Uni related sites on a daily basis. Occasionally eBay, Yahoo for Word Racer, iSketch, Apple and some other news sites.

BBC sport, news, weather (and starting to use its web search as well, amazingly free of commercial links! I wonder what powers it):)

The register

Google Sci Tech

UKMKIVs (for my VW Golf)

TSCelebs

and this one:cool:

First off I check my email, then:

Washington Post
MacRumors
Nikon Cafe
DPreview

Inevitably through perusing info or posts on one of the above, I find myself hopping to Google to look something up or to B&H to see a specific description and price of a lens (I've found that is a quick way to learn about specifics even if I don't intend to order anything there).

If I have time and motivation I check my GMail accounts where I have my Yahoogroups subscriptions and catch up with those...

By the time I've done that it's back to checking my email again, and then another look at the Post, another stop at MacRumors....you get the idea!

Visit Carib101.com

I visit Carib101.com - Has everything you need! I listen to the radiostations daily! Truly amazing!

I also visit CNN.com

mmm... unfortunately, i've been slacking for the last few months when it comes to MR.. but I've started to visit regularly again :p

As for other sites..

Slashdot - Mostly out of habit, but there's still some interesting stuff there.
Fark - For the crazy articles, comments and photoshop contests.
Neverwinter Vault - For news on two of my favorite games
RPGCodex - RPG news. Maybe not the most updated, but forums are great (in their own "special" way - maybe not the most friendly place)
RPGWatch - RPG news. A bit more updated.
Bluesnews - For the news.
WoW EU Forums - For one of my favorite addictions.

Let's see.

MacRumors
MacForums
Brighthand
DSL Reports
Dvorak Uncencored
Howard Forums
digg
Google News
ZDNet News
CNet News (Even though they're the same, basically)
Gizmodo
Engadget

All on a dial-up connection.

MacRumors, NYTimes, talk boards at Guardian Unlimited, MLTdownloads, DrudgeReport, Intellicast, and AncientWorlds.

If you visit the latter, ALLOW pop-ups, as this is the way we communicate over there. A "comm-panel" pops open and we can click each other to send "grams" -- essentially an on-site instant messaging service.
