Phone features aside....

Looking at the new 2018 models from Apple, which phone size do you prefer? I used an iPhone X for a year and grew to love the size. I tried using an XS Max and XR but ultimately decided to stick with the X/XS size and buy an XS as it feels it hits a sweet spot for me nicely.

My iPhone history has been: 3Gs --> 5s --> 6 --> 8 Plus.

So as you can see, every phone I've had has been larger than the last, and it's been great! Within a few days the new phone always feels "normal" and my old phone feels too small.

With the gestures on the XS/XR/XS Max I seem to prefer the smaller phone so I voted for the XS. On the XR I experienced thumb strain which I’ve never had before on any smartphone.

Here’s what I’m referring to:

I prefer the 8+ or MAX because they serve well as mobile computer devices when I'm not using the IPP.

Other than reaching the top ears to invoke control centre and notification centre I don’t mind the size of the Xs max.

I have to say, having a home button and not having to swipe down from the “ears” to get quick settings makes the 8 Plus a more comfortable big phone in my opinion than the similarly sized Xs Max.

I do like small keyboard phones. Will that count? :D

From that list, I had to pick the XS-size.
I've been on the large phablet side with the Mi Max, and although it is nice to see things on the large screen, especially games, actual day-to-day practicality for me is highly compromised as it is difficult to pocket/hold the phone easily. The XS-size is more practical day-to-day.

Having said that, if the Apple Watch keeps improving in its utility, maybe it wouldn't matter in the end.

Xs for me. Everything feels very fluid with what I used my iPhone for (lots of texting via iMessage, WhatsApp, FB Messenger). Plus, anything I need a bigger screen for, I bring out my iPad Pro.

I am biased against bigger screen phones. They're just not my thing.

This is the second poll where the smallest choice took the lead. Are large phone lovers not voting? I keep hearing (on this forum) that there’s no market for smaller phones yet here we are again.

I know this poll isn’t indicative of real world demand but I find this interesting.

Yeah, but the options are too limited. There's no "none of the above".

I like the 5s size.

There you go, you answered your own question.
Just look at the population of China. Even if a minuscule percentage of that market demands a large phone, that number will eclipse any numbers of demand in other markets.

Xiaomi's upcoming model from their bestselling lineup, the Redmi 7, a budget phone, will have a 6.26" screen.

There is no such thing as perfect size. I think my iPhone X is a nice balance between size and usability. I think the iPhone SE has the perfect size for the hands, but the iPhone XS is better for reading.

Perhaps a foldable phone would be ideal, as it manages to combine a small and usable screen for using with one hand only with a large one for when you can use both hands and want a big display.

There's no size choice given I would choose. I'm using an SE now, after owning an original, a 4S, a 5S, a 6S Plus, but finally found that the old 5S / SE size is a refreshing change from a phone that is WAAAAY too big.

This was my exact path for the iPhone. Got the original at the end of the summer in 2007, then the 4s, 5s, and 6s Plus each at their respective launches.

Now I am using an SE.

I hated the 6s Plus design, but I thought I would like the size, which I did, but only when I could have two hands on it. Most of the time, I would to use it one-handed, which was very difficult for me to do, so I sold it and got the SE.

I did miss using the 6s Plus sometimes, but it was nice having the smaller size to fit in pockets in my clothing and in my cars, and of course using it one handed.

My overall enjoyment of using an iPhone increased a lot when going to the SE, so much so, that I recently purchased one of the clearance SE iPhones to use as a spare incase I break my current one.
