Well I have the 3.5" iPhone and I saw my Mom's 4.3" Htc Thunderbolt, and I think that size of phone is awesome even without the "retina display", so which size do you want. Vote in the poll above.

First off, theres no poll. Secondly, this has been done to death already. 4.0 is the answer. /thread

4.3" is the optimal size imo. I have an Atrix with a 4" screen and that extra .3" inches on phones like the Evo makes a big difference. The iphone screen is just too small in comparison. The next logical upgrade for the iphone is a bigger screen since any gain in resolution would be redundant.

4.3" is too much. Could even be a deal-breaker, for me. I voted 3.7".. but I could live with 4" max.

4" would be perfect imo. Make the phone just slightly bigger and it would fit. The phones pretty small so a slight increase wouldnt be a huge deal to me especially if it made room for a bigger battery.

And may I ask.. What does a 4.3 inch screen do that the iPhone's 3.5 inch screen can't do?

I also think that 4 inches would be the ideal size.

You could say the same thing about laptop screens. What can a 17" screen do that a 15.6" screen cant? Nothing, but after having a 17" screen laptop I wont ever go back to a 15.6". Some people just like a prefer a bigger screen. Its not 100% necessary but it would be nice.

Laptops and phones are different in my eyes though. You're not placing a laptop in your pocket. A 4.3 screen looks huge and ugly. The iPhone already feels huge in my pocket, so I don't even want to think about trying to fit a device with a 4.3 inch screen in my pocket.

As for the laptops, I've used all different sizes and smaller is usually better. (For me) It's easier to carry around. I find the 17 inch ones are a bit too big to lug around everywhere you go. But they are nice for having at home.

I know that I'm in the minority here, but I prefer the current size. I just don't want a larger phone...I had one of those and replaced it with an iPhone.

Yeah I guess thats true. I guess a 3.8" would be nice then even though its not much bigger but as long as it doesnt make the phone any bigger why not.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_2_6 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8E200 Safari/6533.18.5)

I think that anything over 4" is too large. I would rather them keep the same form factor than increase the overall size of the phone to accommodate the screen.

what about a 3.8 that wouldnt change the size of the phone at all?
I'd go for the 3.8...But I'm not sure that they could do that without making the phone larger. There are several sensors up at the top where they would have to "expand" the screen, and I would think that they would have already used that space if they could.

3.8 would be nice. Or even a 4 inch only if they could somehow do it without increasing the size of the device. (And without it looking ugly)

Screen size doesn't really matter to me, but as long as the device gets thinner and more sexy, I'm all for it.

And may I ask.. What does a 4.3 inch screen do that the iPhone's 3.5 inch screen can't do?

1) A Lot More viewing area
2) More finger room (mine are thin) for messaging along with it's larger window for easier composition.
3) Less scrolling.
4) Larger & more comfortable keyboard.
5) Keep the device contemporary & competitive.
And that's just the beginning.

Same with "Whats a 60 inch TV do that a 32 inch can't?"

Nothing but a bigger screen is what most people want.
Apples to oranges....I don't have to carry TV in my pocket. I have a 55" TV, but don't want a larger iPhone. I could see owning a larger phone if I played games or watched video on it all day, but I don't do that, and I have seen no "scientific" polls anywhere that show that "most" people want a larger phone.

Well said.

1. Viewing area for what? Everyone can view what they need perfectly already.
2. I have big fingers and I have no issues at all for messaging.
3. Are you really that lazy?
4. As stated in number 2. I have big fingers and I've had no issues typing on an iPhone keyboard. My hands are really big... If I'm able to do it, I'm sure anyone can.
5. A bigger screen doesn't make it more competitive. That is pure garbage. Not everyone wants to walk around with a clipboard in their pocket. I'm not wearing hippy pants from the 60's
