What software is there for video conversion??

I have a ton of movies in AVI format and i need to change them into MP4s or various other file types. any one know of a good program that will convert most video files if not all? any help would be appreciated.

Most people use Handbrake I believe.

i didn't know you could use handbreak to just convert files. i thought it was only for ripping dvds.

As of version 0.9.3 it will work on most video formats, not just VIDEO_TS folders.

If you're converting the old MS AVI container ffmpeg would work. I'm not sure if Handbrake does the old AVI format from MS.

so you can take a video file from your pewter and reformat in hand break??
you dont have to mount it as a disk image or anything?
