I just got a Macbook Pro yesterday. What software should I get? Is Tweetie any good? So far I've got:

Firefox
Adium
Last.FM
Skype

I might get Evernote. What other good stuff is there?

If you like music videos or movies, then you may need a converter. I would use iSquint, its free and its the best!

If you have dvd's you want to burn, then use Handbreak, its free and very useful with plenty of options.

If you like music and you need some then check out this dot.tunes server:
Website: http://69.137.36.211:9998/
Username: mdee4
Password: bananas

Also if you wanna listen to music to test out and listen to what your friends got then get Simplify Media.

AIM
Aperture or photoshop (Picture editing software, but these aren't free)
ClamXav (Scans computer for viruses)
DisApPeAr (Hides folders and stuff so others cant see it, only you)
GimmeSomeTune (If you use itunes it gets lyrics for music)
Sponge (A way to fully remove apps and stuff. Helps save space)
WireTap Studio (It records audio playing on your computer. Multiple audio source choices)

I hope I helped.

To pretty much check/block viruses and trojans get The Little Snitch. Its free and easy to use.

The Mac comes with many other apps from stock that are handy and can do almost whatever you need it to do.
