What sort of cable is this?

Hey guys, what sort of cable is this? It belongs to a camcorder, and the other end plugs into the camcorder... But what on earth does this end plug into? Does anybody know?

That's a standard Firewire cable. It's a 6-pin FW 400 cable.
Most Apples sold after 1999 had Firewire built-in.
They are quickly dropping Firewire as a standard, replacing it with Thunderbolt (although that's questionable, but...)
A camcorder (probably a Sony?) may call it i-Link or simply DV.

Yeah, not a very good pic but based on my Wikipedia link it appears to be the 6-conductor end of a Firewire 400 cable.

Yes, it is a Sony camcorder, and yes, it says "DV" next to the port on the camcorder... The problem is that I don't own a computer that has a Firewire 400 port (only Firewire 800, which is a different shape). So what would be the best way of getting the stuff from the camcorder to a computer (got both Mac and PC) without a Firewire 400 port? Is there some sort of adapter that I can buy?
